I and my brothers and sisters all have the (supposed) gene. Not one alcoholic amoung the bunch.God is merciful,no?

God is very Good.

My Dads side of the family were "working alcoholics" They ALL drank at night and on week ends, all of the daughters are either non or social drinkers..

As I raised my kids I always cautioned them on the possibility (they have it on both sides) .

Codie I have long lost alot of my material , but I remember reading that kids that carry the gene have a different response to ETOH when they first begin to drink...I want to say that they get drunk quicker ..but that is coming from a poor memory.

I thank God daily that my kids are fine..

I think there is something to the hereditary espeically in the Irish famlies main stable potatoe and alcoho which are both a form of carbohydrates!.

It is the STARCH and I think that causes the addiction!

How do you tell that to the new born addictive babies who are born with health defects!

I'm not talking about a mother who is addicted at the time of birth.
