13. You have to be Catholic to become Pope.

Answer: While this has been true in the past, the Fourth Secret of Fatima speaks of a Fisherman Pope who comes to Rome with a wife and kids.

CCC: The sacramental bond of the unity of Christians

1271 Baptism constitutes the foundation of communion among all Christians, including those who are not yet in full communion with the Catholic Church: "For men who believe in Christ and have been properly baptized are put in some, though imperfect, communion with the Catholic Church. Justified by faith in Baptism, [they] are incorporated into Christ; they therefore have a right to be called Christians, and with good reason are accepted as brothers by the children of the Catholic Church."[80] "Baptism therefore constitutes the sacramental bond of unity existing among all who through it are reborn."[81]

(If you're baptized, you're Catholic. You just don't know it ;-)

***If you're baptized, you're Catholic. You just don't know it ;-)***

I was baptized as an infant (Methodist variety -- spritzed on the noggin before I could think) and as an believer (Southern Baptist -- dunked by Charles Stanley).

Thought historic Catholics went nutzoid over Anabaptist rebaptisms!

Anabaptist rebaptisms

They had a thing about repetitive redundancies being repeated too often.

Guilty.

I thought about that, but figured some aren't familiar with anabaptists let alone the meaning of the term. Guess I will have to make two trips to redundancy purgatory (can't make just one ya know).

Marcus Grodi's guest on this week's edition of Journey Home was a former Baptist Minister. After leading many catholics away from their faith, he decided to join the Catholic Church. He was quite surprised to learn that his previous baptism was valid. There was no need to be re-baptized.

Welcome home, Steve! .... or shoud I say, Pope Piel?

Wait a second, you hadn't reached the age of reason when you were an infant, but you couldn't think? What've you been brainwashed by Kate Michelman?

An absolutely EXCELLENT article!! Thank you for posting it. Deal Hudson truly knows how to open minds and hearts to reality. Bookmarked forever.

the Church continues to care for the arts so they will not be forgotten over time

This pope has canonized more saints than any pope before him. I have watched many of these canonizations and noticed that oftentimes, the community that supported the particular saint, brings up gifts to the Holy Father. These usually include a magnificent chalice, ornately decorated with symbols from that saints life. My question: What happens to all of these chalices? Where do they go? Are they used? By whom?

It won't feel like home until I am Pope teeing off on hole #1 odf the Totus Tuus Three Par course on the grounds of the Vatican.

But, you did spark a potential ex cathedra pronouncement, " A special dispensation for those baptized by immersion by your truly in the water hazzard adjacent to the ninth green."

Mrs. Pope will not fee at home until she visits the Outlet Mall complex being constructed adjacent to the Vatican. The kids are anxious to hear the Dolby surround system in the Sistine Chapel Theater.

I have sold rights to Disney to film a sequel to "The Beverley Hillbillies, entitled the "The Eternal City Cajuns."

*** you couldn't think? ***

I only thought I thought. I think I think that thoughts thought as an infant can be termed unthinking thoughts.

(Canonize that!)

Jokes aside, infants may not be capable of complex thought, but thought none the less. What infant doesn't strongly recognize and respond to its mother?

Absolutely! And, I've already visited it ... upstairs on the roof over the left wing. Here is a glimpse at just a small portion of their offerings.

And, here is a shot of their icon room (for the more orthodox amongst us).

Of course you are right Nick, Pope Piel was just teasin' ya. My original statement wasn't a carefully worded treatise.

Infants know their mom's voice from the womb. Now suppose a mom determined not to say a word during the entire pregnancy but just listened to Rush Limbaugh, would the baby exit the womb thinking Rush was it's mom?

Does the "V" in QVC stand for Vatican? She was wondering and hoping.

Also, she's a bi T.E. Lawrence fan. Got any relics of him?
