FWIW, we do know that our knowledge is superior, because it comes from God the Father through His Son, Jesus Christ, and so on through a living Prophet.

It is God you have an argument with, not us. It is the truth. Many of us have dedicated our lives, and even sacrificed them, for that truth.

Speaking for myself, I simply ask that you refrain from provocative remarks such as you are making here. They're pointless. We know what we know. We invite you to partake of the knowledge.

If you do not, then go with the Lord's blessings, and the lesser but no doubt important truths that you HAVE managed to get hold of. We don't hold anything against you, but we will proclaim the true Gospel of Jesus Christ, for the Savior Himself has commanded it.

I don't have a problem with the Mormon religion per se. Almost every Mormon I've met has been a good person and a patriot. Even though I think their beliefs were founded by a guy out to make a buck, that doesn't mean the religion doesn't have some truths in it or merit... God works through scoundrals too. BUT I do have a problem with the church harassing people. That isn't so much a religious disagreement as it is a courtesy issue. I have the same problem with members of every other sect that comes to my door thinking they represent the one and only truth... not just mormons.

BTW... coming to my door to preach is attacking my sacred beliefs. It is insulting.

OK. I'm done. My intent wasn't to bash Mormons exactly. It was meant mainly to bash Mormon door knockers.

I personally welcome these younger elders that knock on my door. Had two over last month for an hour. Great evening!

You got them for an hour???!!! Wow! They usually leave pretty quick on me. Guess I need to tone down the "I am the reincarnation of Joseph Smith... here are my golden CD-ROMS." speil. Eventually one of them will believe me and I will be on the way to starting my own religion. That's how it works. Ask L.Ron Hubbard... 'If you really want to get rich... start your own religion.'

But as Spiff indicated, our Prophet has declared that this war is a continuation of the attempt to combat evil.

No one loves war, but we love righteousness, and we love freedom.

There is no religious faith extant in the world today that more accurately mirrors the principles of freedom and liberty that are embodied in the Constitution.

"Mormons" consider the U.S. Constitution to be a divinely-inspired document, and the men who framed it were simply doing the will of the Almighty. They themselves believed this to be true, and so do we.

Despite the difficulties of our early beginnings, there is no other land on earth, we believe, where that which we claim to be the true and restored Gospel of Jesus Christ could have taken root, sprouted and flowered, than the United States of America. It is for the purpose of restoring Christ's true church that this nation was established.

The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ, a sacred book of scripture to us, was written for our day, to help us through the difficulties and trials that those living in our time would have to endure. Pres. Hinckley specifically mentions accounts where the ancient inhabitants of this hemisphere were required to take up arms to defend their lives, their liberty, their religion and their families.

He specifically draws a parallel between those ancient conflicts and the one we are engaged in at this time, and may likely become engaged in in the near future.

I believe--and many "Mormons" with whom I've spoken agree--that it is no coincidence that a godly and prayerful man such as President George W. Bush has come to hold the office he does at this time. Many of us believe his leadership is inspired. In fact, because it is thus, that is why many of the most evil and wicked people on the earth at this time, both within and without the United States, hate him so fiercely.

Satan has a great number of followers today, and if we are not careful, and don't adhere to godly principles in this nation we will fall just as the ancient people of God, the descendants of Jacob who inhabited this continent as described in the Book of Mormon, fell when they began to love wickedness more than godliness.

So it is important to put President Hinckley's talk in this context. We believe he is a prophet of God, just as surely as any prophet you may encounter in the Holy Bible, and when he speaks as he did he is inspired.

His words are for us, today, and we'll do well to heed them.

Yeah, they asked to use my phone at the end since they had missed some appointments. :0)

They told me I knew more about their church than most of the folks that attended their church. I invited them to come back anytime. I think the bishop might make sure that doesn't happen.

We had a very pleasant conversation.

You have interesting definitions for words like "bigotry," "attack," and "bash."

FWIW, if the missionaries EVER knock on your door again, tell them from me, that I told them to contact their mission home and MAKE SURE your address is listed as a "never, ever, ever contact again."

I am sorry you have been offended.

Hinkley, the guy who was dupped by Mark Hoffman (where was the spirit of the Lord on this transaction?)

I suppose he forgot the scene at the last supper when Jesus told the twelve that one of them would betray him, and none of them knew who it was. "...is it I Lord?...". At the time, none of the twelve Apostles knew Judas was the betrayer. Where was the "spirit of the Lord" in them?

There couldn't possibly be a double standard here could there?

Any religion that sends people to my door uninvited is a cult.

Oh, they were invited, just not by you.

It wouldn't make much sense for a church to send out people to spread their word if they didn't think they had something better would it? I can see it now, "Hello, we're from the Church of What's Happening Now, and we think it's, well, OK, but if you don't think so have a nice day anyway..."

If there is such a thing as One True Church any church wishing to claim that status would have to assert it. If there is no such thing as One True Church then the Mormons are just as true as the rest of them.

If you even know him. (which, I doubt)

FYI, From Solar Storm's profile page:

Political Interests: Conservative environmentalism, pro-life (but not a born again type), Tax Cuts , Ending of the H1-B slave trade.

Good guess, huh?

Good point with the scripture. If you don't mind, what caused you to leave the Church?

I got into a debate with a couple of Born Again Christians. I lost. I was trying to show them the truth of the LDS Church, I discovered it wasn't true.

Actually I won. I lost my faith in the LDS Church and found my Faith in Jesus.

Care to debate? :-)
