There is nothing of Satan in Christ.

Thank you for the reply. I hope and pray you keep an open mind on that, we won't get far if we don't know the nature of the true enemy. Reread this scripture and God bless.

Romans 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

That is not the doctrine of the Church, CG. You cannot find that in the LDS Scriptures, which is where the doctrine of the Church is.

Well, "As man is, God once was; as God is, man may become" isn't in the scriptures either, but it seems to me that there are an awful lot of members of the Church who believe that it is the doctrine of the Church (unlike President Hinckley, who refers to it simply as "more of a couplet than anything else").

Just because the membership has not adopted, by common consent, a teaching of a particular prophet as being doctrinal doesn't necessarily mean that the teaching isn't true. Our free agency gives us the right to reject truth, and that's been pretty much standard procedure throughout the scriptural record from Cain and Abel on down. God's people eventually receive a doctrine (which is how President Young referred to his [or Joseph's, actually] "Adam/God" teachings, saying "let all who may hear these doctrines, pause before they make light of them, or treat them with indifference, for they will prove their salvation or damnation") they don't understand or don't want to accept, and everything goes downhill from there. Nibley gives a good example of it in "Approaching Zion":

On various occasions, Brigham Young made it perfectly clear that no possible grounds remain for evading or postponing the law of consecration; there is nothing to argue or temporize about; the clarifying and explaining have all been done. It has been repeatedly presented to the people in the most clear and unequivocal terms—and flatly rejected by them. Not by a show of hands—that would have been perfectly permissible—but by proclaiming by word and deed after leaving the meetings that they had no intention of keeping certain parts of the law. Notice how Israel and the Saints of every age, when called to keep the law, are reminded that unless they live up to every point of the agreement the whole covenant will be nullified—it is the whole law or nothing. The Saints covenanted and promised to observe it with the clear understanding that God is not to be mocked in these things, and that the only alternative to living up to every item of covenants made with him is to be in Satan's power (cf. Moses 4:4). Which is where we are today, along with the rest of the world. It is the stubborn insistence on having it both ways, keeping parts of the law that content them while putting the rest on hold, that generates those crippling contradictions that mark our present condition.

"When things that are of the greatest importance are passed over by the weak-minded men without even a thought, I want to see truth in all its bearings and hug it to my bosom. I believe all that God ever revealed, and I never hear of a man being damned for believing too much; but they are damned for unbelief." -- Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 374.

Oh no! You said "family"!! How foolish of me, family means that I can count on about 20 more people that will want to go with us! We will likely reserve an entire floor of a WorldMark Hotel, right across the street.

Last time we went, we had a "family" of about 15 join us. Rather small by our standards.

This serpent--this unclean spirit--pours into the hearts of depraved men of depraved minds and corrupt hearts the poison if his malice, lying, godlessness, blasphemy. No...he has never wanted our redemption, only our destruction. He is jealous that man was given a chance for salvation after the initial fall in the garden.

Excellent point.

The mystery of the Holy Trinity is what binds all Christians, Catholic and non-Catholic, together. How can one God be split into three separate Persons, but still be one God? That is the mystery and the faith of all Christians, that God is three but one, Trinitarian. Using any analogy from a tree (tree/branches/fruit) to the Shamrock (God bless the Irish!), the Trinity shows three distinct Gods in one Godhead.

As we pray, Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

So do you all believe that a prophet can teach wrongly or give an inncorrect prophecy and still hold the title prophet?

I know you'll enjoy yourself better that way too. All that for about $200 a day sounds like a great deal.

You going to have room for a visitor? I'll bring a tent.

$200 a day is a terrific find. My wife is basically required to cook for the extended "family", because it is one of the reasons that they vacation with us. She does get help, but most of the meals are her creations that she has taught to the others.

As planning draws near, who knows, maybe I will bend your ear then!

Basically the area that we differ with a belief in a trinity is that we are by scripture, in earthly tabernacles of clay, shaped in the likeness of God. Within that flesh there is also spirit that Paul declared to be the offspring of God. It is because of these declarations in scripture that I regard the oneness of God, to be of a type that we know and understand here on earth.

I do not want to be irreverent to your doctrine of Trinity. I simply see in scripture a plainess and clarity that to me speaks abundantly that I am a child of God and that He desires that I be like Him.

Some children are spoiled and can’t wait for others to also be able to eat the same food. At one time some of the children were able to digest better. The LDS had 2 temple-destroyed Kirtland, and Nauvoo ran out of each community, property destroyed and looted were made to leave as they were shoot at, Many walked across country with handcarts, many were frozen to death or lost limbs, and other triages. It was through great faith they made it and many diary show where they had personal revelations and some seen angles, by the time they reached Utah they were ready to received many of the mysteries of God were reveal to them and their future generations. The farther time moves from those experiences, the abilities to process this meat is few, for it is by the trail that we are given this knowledge. They are truths, yet they are not vital to our salvation. It is most important we learn how to walk

What I am saying because of the trail of their faith, they have proven so much to the Lord by their sacrifice and enduring to the end that they were ready to hear those lofty things or mysteries of God, and to others it would not be able to receive for the depth of their relationship has not manifested the ability to received such morsels.

Try to think of it like the sacrifice that our Founding Fathers and soldiers who paid in blood and limb for this Nation to come forth, but the same thing happen to bring the restoration of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, many had excelled in their faith where they were able to receive the mysteries of God and these things should not be trifle with, not given lightly; I learn these things because when I first converted I knew I have at last found the true Church and wanted to know everything that the Lord had allowed me to understand.

Sadly many learn these things by the design of evil man who want to choke you and cause you to spit it out.

Any way these things are sacred and should only be handle when one is ready to feast in the wonders of the Lord, until that time one is really trampling on the mysteries of the Lord.

Ether 12
3 For he did cry from the morning, even until the going down of the sun, exhorting the people to believe in God unto repentance lest they should be destroyed, saying unto them that by faith all things are fulfilled—

4 Wherefore, whoso believeth in God might with surety hope for a better world, yea, even a place at the right hand of God, which hope cometh of faith, maketh an anchor to the souls of men, which would make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in good works, being led to glorify God.

5 And it came to pass that Ether did prophesy great and marvelous things unto the people, which they did not believe, because they saw them not.

6 And now, I, Moroni, would speak somewhat concerning these things; I would show unto the world that faith is things which are hoped for and not seen; wherefore, dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith.

7 For it was by faith that Christ showed himself unto our fathers, after he had risen from the dead; and he showed not himself unto them until after they had faith in him; wherefore, it must needs be that some had faith in him, for he showed himself not unto the world.

8 But because of the faith of men he has shown himself unto the world, and glorified the name of the Father, and prepared a way that thereby others might be partakers of the heavenly gift, that they might hope for those things which they have not seen.

9 Wherefore, ye may also have hope, and be partakers of the gift, if ye will but have faith.

10 Behold it was by faith that they of old were called after the holy order of God.

Rest ,Christ is my savior. He paid a price I could not pay. The works of my ancestors ot the Church fathers has nothing to do with my salvation. Trials do not earn you heaven..trials do not earn you truth...

Trials do not earn you heaven..trials do not earn you truth...

I never said trail paid for our salvation, it paid for the restoration of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints The fullness of the Word was restarted

Rev.14
6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,

7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

The point of that story was that because of their faith they were able to receive more of the Word of the Lord.

Why do you always look for something that is not there!

Stand in line! There are two methodologies of confusion. One is that even among Trinitarians there is not agreement. The second is that the Latter-day Saint belief in a Godhead could be similar to what you think.

The plain difference is that we Believe that God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ, have perfect, immortal bodies, that in appearance are like ours. We believe that Christ literally resurrected, and that His resurrected body is a corporal regeneration of his mortal body and that His Father has the same. The Holy Ghost does have a corporal body of material that we would call a personage of spirit, slightly different than that of of The Father and Son.

We take a literal interpretation to the stoning of Stephen wherein the scriptural record declares that Stephen looking up saw God the Father, and the Son at His right hand.

We do not believe the trinity to be of three equal parts of one substance. Instead we believe that the three separate beings are one in purpose, that the Son and the Holy Ghost declare that we Worship the only True God which is The Father. So we say that we worship God the Eternal Father, through His Son Jesus The Christ, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
