From another thread:

The ONE (1) Point of 'maestro':

"SO THEN 'faith' cometh by hearing, and hearing by the 'Word' of/re: 'Jehovah-Jesus'=GOD-of-Israel/a.k.a. Jacob!!! (Romans 10:17 paraphrased)

Calvin was no "Prophet", and Calvinists do not claim for him this imagined stature.

yet you cling to this one.

John Calvin was a Saint.

John Calvin is a Saint.

John Calvin is a Prince of Heaven, a Joint Heir with Christ, reigning even now with King Jesus (Revelation 20:6).

must run now for stitches as I whacked the back of my coconut on the table when I fell off the chair. Getting dizzy - bad headache, must find more cheese.

Can't you see just how anti-Biblical that post is, and then understand why we don't consider mormonism to be Christian?

No they can not...they really can not

BTW they do not really believe the Bible ...they only pay it lip service

In case you had not noticed, Rev911, I chose my language in describing John Calvin's place in Glory in a manner designed specifically to conform exactly to the very Promises that the Bible makes to every Believing Christian.

If you find that idea "stunning", maybe it is a good thing that you fell out of your chair!! Perhaps God will use that experience to whack some sense into that noggin of yours, eh??

And indeed Faith does come by hearing ..the question is can a dead man hear? Does a dead man "have ears" with which to hear??

Luk 8:8 And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

They say, "God spoke to Joseph Smith and that's why his book is just as good as the Bible."

Actually, if I remember correctly, JS received his revelation from the "angel" Mormon. The particular Bible passage in Hebrews I am referring to declares whatever revelation as scripture he received as false.

Now, JS did claim to have face to face communication with God in a way that the Bible also declares as having ended. Oh, well.

BTW, it does seem as if you place a great deal of weight upon the Council of 393.

Where?

Where does the Bible declare that Special Revelation by the prophets to have ended. The book of Hebrews! Before I give you the verse, is there any part of the book of Hebrews that your "latter-day revelation" has "revealed" to be in error?

Thank you.

It was meant in complete charity, and I am glad that you recognize that.

Surely you know that a little "knock on the noggin" is nothing compared to the salvation of your everlasting soul.

May God use your "stunning" at the seeming "audacity" of my post... to the praise of His Glory!!

best, OP

Evidently, (obviously)......."YES".

How else can Psalm 14:1,2,3......AND,......Romans 3:9,10,11,12.......be 'explained'!

YES,.......YES,.........But, NOT WITHOUT or APART FROM THE "Declaration" of God's WORDS (Promises)!

cubical you are a nice guy.. .we could freep together sometime..but we will never worship together. I believe in only one eternal God..as Woody would say..The Ancient of days

Unfortunately, our mormon and Arminian friends do believe that anything less than worshipping the Lord for exactly who HE IS is not IDOLATRY. They seem to think that going through the motions is good enough or that the efforts of an IDOLATER is somehow pleasing to God.

My ALL for His ALL. Nothing less will do. And either we are right and mormonism does not worship Him for exactly who He is or they are right and we do not worship Him for exactly who He is. Yet, somehow, they seem to think that IDOLATERS will be eventually allowed into heaven.

It is only obvious if you chose to believe it is obvious

I had to smile at your choice of proof text as it is the same text that the Calvinists uses to prove that men are spiritually dead because of the fall ,and unable to hear..Rom 3:9 What then? are we better [than they]? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;
10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one

Just think on that for a moment... there is NONE that seek after God...there is none that want God in their fallen state. Why ? What changes to make this man..so damaged by the fall suddenly seek after God?

That man needs to be Born again..regenerated ..then he will have the desire to seek God...and the ears to hear the gospel and the will to respond to it..

Jer 4:22 For my people [is] foolish, they have not known me; they [are] sottish children, and they have none understanding: they [are] wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.

My comment: "If you offer to come into my house if I will have you and you get on an airplane and fly 3000 miles, rent a car at the airport and drive to my house, park in front and walk up to my front door and ring the bell and when I open the door, you come in and say "Hello", who has caused us to get together? You or me? You did. Only someone not willing to think outside his construct would say me."

[I heard the bell, believed someone was there and received the one on my door step.

"I am standing at the door and knocking! If anyone hears my voice and opens the door I will come into his home and share a meal with him, and he with me." Rev 3:20. That, my friend, is the Gospel.]

Your response: In order for your analogy to work, Matchett would, of course, have to be dead.

What is heaven's name are you talking about? I know the Bible is an inconvenient annoyance where the construct is involved, but the Bible (and my humble analogy) suggests that God is doing all the work, 'travelling,' knocking, etc and we are merely 'receiving' Him.

Perhaps you could consider the analogy in that light? Apart from your foolish loyalty to the manmade construct, why is the opening of the door to one's heart to the King of Heaven so much "work" that you think that makes the receiver responsible for the entire "trip"?

[P.S. Perhaps you should bear in mind that John is quoting Jesus.]

Nice of ya to do that ...you must be much smarter that all those that are lost:>) Could be of course that God did not knock on EVERY door..only the ones that were marked....

The dead hear nothing. Not knocking, not gate-bells, not door-knockers.... nothing (Ecclesiastes 9:5)

This is an "inconvenient annoyance" to defenders of the Arminian Construct...

...but it remains the Truth of Scripture.

Now, that's no way to gain points from your fellow anti-Mormons who gladly proclaim all day long that I don't worship or know the same Christ.

No, we do not claim that you don't know the same Christ; you yourself flatly declare that you do not worship the same God. We say that God is from everlasting to everlasting, the Alpha (nothing before) and the Omega (nothing after). You say that as God once was, man is now; as God is now, man will become.

Sorry, but my God say that you are an IDOLATER who has erected a false god in the corruptible image of man and have bowed down to worship him.

I didn't know you were a red wing fan?? Say hi Dominik Hasek LOL LOL LOL...you know what that proves? Predestination..thats what...

My computer wallpaper right now is an action shot with Trevor Linden of the Canucks trying to back Chris Chelios into Hasek -- and Chelios very gently has a nice (and wholly illegal) grip on Linden's stick (so he couldn't get it to the ice if he tried).

Nope, that's pure free will.

Actually, I have been a Red Wings fan since I used to listen (yes, that's right "listen") to the teams of Terry Sawchuk and the "Production Line" of Ted Lindsay, Gordie Howe and Sid Abel.

In your action shot, everyine is doing precisely what they want to do, for the accomplishment of their purposes.

Without acknowledgment of the nature of a Man, there is NO SUCH THING as "free will"... for if my Will selects Actions which I do not Want, it acts independently of my Person, and I am a slave to an Autonomic Will (like unto a depraved alcoholic, or a person who is under the influence of drugs).

But if I am a master of my own Fate, and I freely will to do whatsoever I want to do... then I am a hopelessly damned sinner without the *prior* regeneration of the Spirit. For in my Natural State, I hate God... and I freely will to Reject Him, for that is what I Want to do.
