Who decided what books are in the Bible? If you say Luther, he wanted to jettison James, Hebrews and Revelation. He called the Story of Jonah a joke, said that the Book of Job was fiction, etc. So did the Books fall from Heaven, or did someone else decide?

What was determined to be Scripture was recognized before Catholicism came along and gave it their stamp of approval and then pretended that because they made that determination they could take credit for it.

I’ve read two books on the life of Luther, written by unbiased Protestant scholars. They don’t hide Luther’s faults. I don’t know what a polemical article would reveal that I don’t already know.

Your confusion is understandable.

It takes spiritual discernment and when you have that, you understand the importance of Scripture and its reliability and don’t call taking God at His word and attributing importance to it as *dumb*.

Metmom isn't the one with reading comprehension problems. Did you read the tome you posted on this thread? Do you not get that by saying the "Bible alone is dumb" you actually ARE saying the Bible is dumb, too? If the word of God is not sufficient for the rule of faith and authoritative BECAUSE it is Divinely-inspired, then you have placed your church above it and made it inferior. That, my friend, is dumb!

You forgot "by grace alone", "in Christ alone" to the "glory of God alone". Seriously, ET. Can you not see that there is no contradiction? We aren't saved "by Scripture alone" but the Scriptures DO confirm that we are saved by the grace of God, through faith, in Jesus Christ, to the glory of God ALONE. Your church doesn't get to share God's glory. In fact, He said He would not share it with any other. The grace of God is truly awesome and He deserves all the praise, honor and glory. Amen!

Daniel - That’s an excellent review and refutation. I’m guessing it will put an end to the argument.

Thanks, and bless the Lord, but if refutations would silence parroted prevaricating propaganda then there would be no more persistence of such. I actually suspect some RCs think they can obtain an indulgence thereby (extrapolated from a list of 70: https://visitationproject.org/pages/list-requirements-plenary-indulgences), thus motivation, even though as refuted, they are an argument against being a RC.

Nobody worships Luther. Why don’t you read my linked article? It sounds like from your questions/statements, there’s a lot you don’t know. This addresses the canon of Scripture specifically and it is NOT polemical.

From what I’ve read, the Reformers accepted the canon(for the OT) from the Jewish Council of Jamnia at the end of the 1st Century. Which doesn’t seem to make sense since this was after their rejection of Jesus and thus they had absolutely no authority in any matter.
