The error is not about “church traditions”.
The error is that the whole pont of communion, whereever in Chrsitianity it is practiced, is not about “church tradition” or the “laws” of the Catholic church, but about the meaning of communion and particularkly what it is supposed to mean to the recipient of communion. And that meaning is that it is part of accepting Jesus as Christ, which no faithful and praticing Muslim would do. Minus that committment by the recipient of communion, the ceremony bears witness to nothing as far as that recipient is concerned.
In my book, a cleric who lacks that understanding should not be a cleric of any Christian denomination.
So you believe sacrilege of the Most Holy Sacrament is justified?
Do you not believe in obeying canon law, Murph?
How are you applying this relative to a Muslim receiving Communion? Related: I read somewhere that the Muslim did not eat the host.
But we are all bound by Almighty God's due Justice.
No exceptions, Murph.
Mahairi told the vicar general that he did not intend to “disrespect the Catholic Church” and that he consumed the host when he sat down in his pew."
It's not on the Archbishop, it's on the muzzie who wanted a cracker.
It doesn't mean anything. The muzzie gets a cracker, and the rest of the Catholics at Mass receive Holy Communion.
This happens every day in every Catholic Church. If the muzzie thought that consuming a wafer gives him dominion over that chalice and that Church and that parish, he'll get what he put into it - nothing.
If, on the other hand, he ritual'd as part of a long-term come-to-Jesus spiritual quest, well heck yeah.
The archbishop knows better.
And It's the Body of Christ, regardless of who receives It.
So you think the bishop was confused as to whether the muslim sheik was a Catholic?
Are you even Catholic; referring to the Blessed Sacrament as just being a "cracker"?
I’m not Roman Catholic, but our pastor always states that communion is only for those who claim Christ as Lord. Granted, those who choose to participate may deceive man about their heart, but they can never deceive God and they eat and drink judgment upon themselves accordingly.
