Wonderful.
He is.
Outstanding. Thank you!
That demonstrates why, to me, Tissot is a man among boys when comparing Bible artists: he conceives of views no one else does.
My bride says it sounds like something Max Lacado might have written…
I don’t know for certain, but it is similar to the Flag of St. James. That was my take-away. Perhaps the artists that used it were Episcopalian?
Mostly just a guess on my part....
That’s one more guess than we had. Thanks.
Thanks. My bride of forty-three years did not venture an opinion.
Thanks. I like your work.
There were a camp of Roman soldiers near the tomb. Probably ten. They all had to take a watch on the tomb, and if you were caught negligent or asleep they would either flog you or kill you.
Pilate, at the request of Caiphus and the Sanhedrin put his seal on the tomb. Anyone entering w/o permission would suffer severely.
I would have hated to have duty that morning if a centurion.
Happy Easter.

All of us, not merely the soldiers, must explain that empty tomb.
Out of all the pictures you posted, I really couldn’t pick a favorite, even among the ones I liked the most!
What a beautiful day it is here! I wish I could say the same for the poor souls in Ukraine. I pray that they take inspiration from this day , that there is the Light from Jesus’ Resurrection to guide them!
Thank you Dan, for all that you do here!
A vary Blessed Easter to you and everyone here!

What powerful words!
Thank you for sharing them!
May this Day of Days be wonderful for you!
#58...His eyes looking upward...
Pete, I see you’re using your ‘scope to view the spiritual situations of others, thereby inspiring your prayer. Amen to that!
As I was assembling these, that was the thought which occupied me: When He first awoke, what did He see and think? A moment unlike every other....
Blessings to you as well.
“Why do you search for the living among the dead? He is risen.”
Thank you for searching these out and posting them here. So beautiful. It is a glorious day here in NC. I placed a homemade cross covered in flowers on the front of my property so that people driving by could see it and remember the importance of this day. He is risen indeed. alleluia! The painting by Bloch and the sculpture by Robbia are my favorites, but they are all inspiring.
What a winsome witness!
3You shall have no other gods before Me.
4You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in the heavens above, on the earth below, or in the waters beneath. 5You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on their children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6but showing loving devotion to a thousand generations of those who love Me and keep My commandments.
What, exactly, is your point?
