The SSPX has a role to play, and I’m a supporter but not an attendee. Part of the Bergoglian “long game” has been to get the TLM out of the parish churches and quarantine it with the SSPX. This was reported in 2017...

I tend to suspect that there would have been moves on this 4 years ago if Benedict had died. His longevity caused them to shift their game plan to what we got... send out a phony, half-baked survey to (some of) the bishops. Keep the results a secret, and declare that the bishops “begged” Bergoglio to put the hammer down. They couldn’t wait any longer, as it’s now within the realm of possibility that Ratzinger will outlive Bergoglio.
