There is something that always struck me about Ravi when he really got going is that his voice would take on an ardent pleading quality, sometimes almost seeming as if he might start crying ... could it be that he knew the need for grace for others because he knew the need for grace for himself?
That doesn’t mean if he did those things it was somehow simply okay, grace which deals with sin is a grace that is about what Christ has done and not what we have done, about who He is and not who we are.
I cannot cast stones. Lust has been my problem too (remember what Christ said, to look on a woman and lust after her is already the sin), having been exposed to porn at a young age, but that does not disqualify me from grace ... not calling on Christ while there was still opportunity, resisting the call to salvation till it is too late does that.
Yes, womanizing is bad, there may be loss of reward which is pretty darned serious if you’re taking the new earth and heaven seriously. But if because of grace you are saved there is a huge difference between a potential loss of reward or having an unconfessed sin exposed later at the judgment (the good one, the one the saints are in) and the plight of those who find themselves in the second judgment that ends in the LoF.
Ditto.
Never heard of him, but that too was my first thought! Great minds..... ; )
Sin is sin, but there is also legally criminal behavior: abuse, predatory practices, rape, etc...Those are some of the allegations against Ravi.
Well, he’s no longer subject to human courts.
When he was still alive, the abuse and acts of perversion festered without recourse and his victims were shamed and muzzled. The real tragedy is that it took his death for the truth to even get a fair shake.
Then I found a couple of videos by men who, I suppose, have online ministries, that claimed we must believe the victims, which are apparently coming out of the woodwork now that Zacharias is dead. etc And they are so very angry and disappointed and ... But there's nothing I found that substantiates/supports the allegations; nothing that couldn't be explained away.
I'm sorry, I just have a very difficult time believing all the accusations without some kind of proof aside from 'victims' and a supposedly independent investigative firm allegations.
I watched some of the confirmation hearings for Kavenaugh (sp) and this situation reminds me how lies can be produced quickly with the goal of destroying.
I listened to Ravi Zacharias for years and gave to his ministry. No single voice out there did a better job at apologetics than he. I'm not saying that he didn't do these things, but I'm not convinced either.
What is subject to human courts though, is his legacy and how Christians move forward right now. What lessons are learned. And how we as believers may have been or may be complicit - whether passively or actively - in allowing for a culture of abuse to fester, as well as idolatry of a human leader.
If the goal of Ravi’s ministry was to reach and save the lost...well it matters all the more the testimony of our witness before them.
Pray about it and ask God to remove anything in your heart from the objectivity required to review the facts or even find them in the first place.
Did you ever notice that old Bill Cosby routines are still funny?
Pray about it and ask God to remove anything in your heart from the objectivity required to review the facts or even find them in the first place.
Like I said, I'm not saying that he didn't do these things but by god, if a man's life's reputation is going to be destroyed, I think more than accusations should be used to do it.
Again, this guy as so many, if he is actually a born-again Christian, is almost certainly bound by the Old Covenant of the Law which has been discarded (Heb 8:13) for the New Covenant of Grace which sets people free from sin and condemnation.

That was my question. Never heard of this person.
First of all most of us have never heard of this guy
Second when someone falls from grace you just say “I forgive them “
as Jesus forgives us for our sins
All you control in your own life on this planet is your own words and actions
RE: First of all most of us have never heard of this guy
His ministry consists of taking the gospel to the intellectuals through reasoning and evidence - Apologetics for short.
The ministers in his organization, including Ravi himself go directly to the “lion’s den” - the universities and bastions of learning worldwide to present the gospel and answer the tough questions thrown at them.
Okay and how is this surpassing the pit-level bar of moral and spiritual standards set by the liberal left?
