Thanks as always for a capacious array of Biblical Art. Among others, I liked the Tissot for it's evocative portrayal of King David's lustful angst.

This is very educational series. Many of the painters copy poses and tableaux from one another, but others seem to derive an original vision from the text. I enjoy Chagall’s unique artist’s license. Others make a stab at historic accuracy, which was a lot harder to do then, and some don’t even try, like the hairstyles in the movie poster. Then, as my art history teacher often observed with a sigh, there are the homosexual male artists struggling to accurately depict the female chest anatomy, of whiich they apparently lack experience.
