The picture of Abraham and Isaac is a bit off on Isaac's age. He was a grown man, likely in his 30s, like Jesus. He carried the wood for the sacrifice, which showed his strength and age. That makes Abraham about 130.

You don't have any stills from Joseph Prince of Egypt. I always thought the 2d animation of the hieroglyphics was one of the best parts of the movie. Here it is on Youtube.

If this had the altar and the Substitutionary Lamb anywhere visible, this would have been the one I'd have shown.

Here is what I wrote on #14: GOD TESTS ABRAHAM:

DID ABRAHAM FORCE ISAAC ONTO THE ALTAR, OR DID HE PERSUADE HIM?

With few exceptions these artists portray Isaac as being only ten or twelve years old, subtly implying he was forced onto the sacrificial altar by his overbearing and overpowering father. I disagree. I suggest Isaac was strong and vigorous--certainly able to carry the wood!--who went willingly to his death because it was his father’s will.

As Jesus did. Abraham and Isaac are types--symbols--of the Father and Son. When we meet them in heaven, it will be not only Abraham's famous faith, but Isaac's also, we shall so admire. May we learn from and emulate them now!

I really don't, although several kindly people like you have said so. Just finished a huge post on Balaam and his talking ass, with 50+ images plus a cute surprise, and now I've started in on bumping off Moses. We'll have FUN FUN FUN now that daddy took the TBird away.
