No. It’s not an assertion. It is fact.

Do not make a large sheet cake from a cupcake.

That's very weak. It must be one of your originals.

"I'm pretty sure you didn't even read the article by your above comment."

Oh I read it and there's absolutely no evidence that Peter lived a celibate life after the ascension of Christ. The evidence is that Peter and his wife lived closely together up until days before both were martyred. Priestly celibacy didn't become a tradition until hundreds of years after Christ.

Exuse me. I was not talking about just the celibacy issue in the RCC. I’m talking about ALL the doctrines and traditions of men that crown the RCC’s belief system.
Forbidding priests to marry? Where is that found in Scripture? And don’t even get me started on the RCC doctrine and traditions of Mary. She was so,less? REALLY? When she died she was resurrected and now stands by God’s throne and intercede for the saints? REALLY? Which Scripture says that?
When something is claimed to be from God, we are told to SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES to see if those things are so. NOT leaf through some

I’m not sure how celibacy could be an apostolic tradition when Peter was a married man.

1 Corinthians 9:5 Do we not have the right to take along a believing wife, as do the other apostles and the brothers of the Lord and Cephas?

I challenge you to quote scripture to support the above absurd claim.

Have you abandoned sola scriptura for your own convenience to attack the Catholic Church?

Scripture says this about the qualifications for church leaders.

1 Timothy 3:1-13 The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God's church? He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil.

Deacons likewise must be dignified, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for dishonest gain. They must hold the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. And let them also be tested first; then let them serve as deacons if they prove themselves blameless. Their wives likewise must be dignified, not slanderers, but sober-minded, faithful in all things. Let deacons each be the husband of one wife, managing their children and their own households well. For those who serve well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and also great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.

Titus 1:5-16 This is why I left you in Crete, so that you might put what remained into order, and appoint elders in every town as I directed you— if anyone is above reproach, the husband of one wife, and his children are believers and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination. For an overseer, as God's steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.

For there are many who are insubordinate, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision party. They must be silenced, since they are upsetting whole families by teaching for shameful gain what they ought not to teach. One of the Cretans, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith, not devoting themselves to Jewish myths and the commands of people who turn away from the truth. To the pure, all things are pure, but to the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their minds and their consciences are defiled. They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work.

Another poster who does not read Scripture.

Otherwise, et, you’d know that Peter and the other apostles, maybe including from Paul, were married men and their wives went with them on their journeys.

And the qualifications for church leadership positions requires a married man.

Outside marriage, yes.

Read Eusebius - the earliest Church historian. Scripture confirms Peter was married and says nothing to the effect that pastors should be celibate or that Peter became celibate. Eusebius confirms that Peter was with his wife up until days before both were martyred. His wife was killed first.

Isn’t tradition short hand for “because we’ll always done it”?

It actually seems to be shorthand for *We don't like what Scripture teaches on the subject and want to change it so that's our fall back position. Now we can justify ignoring Scripture and keep going merrily along our way.*

Do you consider sacramental marriage till death do us part to be traditional?

No. It's not tradition. It's a command of God in His word, sola Scriptura.

Jesus said, "What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate."

Note that it does not even say *divorce*, so that separate would even include Catholicism sanctioned divorce under the guise of *annulment*.

There’s nothing to explain. Jesus was celibate. Either imitating Christ’s lifestyle by freely-chosen celibacy is DIAMETRICALLY OPPOSED TO SCRIPTURE or it isn’t.

If someone wants to FREELY CHOOSE celibacy, that's their call.

However, Catholic priests do not have that option.

They are either to take the vow of celibacy or not become priests.

The do not have the FREE CHOICE to be a Catholic priest and be married.

Jesus is married. His Bride: The Christian Church.

Ok, then, then even the argument that Jesus was celibate therefore Catholic priests must be does not hold water.

Thank you for shooting down that one.
