They are supposed to try to save both lives.
Ok rabbi, since women are experts at emotional violence (and physical violence on those they can get away with it on), and you claim that emotional violence threatens life, and the Talmud says if you know someone is coming to kill you, you can go and kill them first, I guess that gives husbands license to kill their wives first.

In the past, women often had narrow pelvic outlets due to ricketts.
The baby would simply not fit through the birth canal, so doctors would collapse the child’s skull to deliver the infant (which often was dead from the stress of prolonged labor) to save the mother’s life.
This was allowed in Jewish law.
Catholicism did not allow this if the child was still alive, so often that meant letting the mother die in labor then do a Caesarian section.
There are a few reports of surgery done while mom was still alive, but usually the surgery killed the mother.
Since Caesarian sections are now safe, This has nothing to do with most modern abortions, where only 1 percent are done to save the mother’s life, and maybe another 2 or 3 percent for major health problems in the mother, or severe malformations in the baby.
So if your boss threatens your emotional health by giving you a poor yearly review, according to this guy’s argument, you have a right to kill him.
