“They lived in a garden and ate apples or something.”
That made me laugh. My cousin mentioned Adam and Eve and “the apple” to my mom once. Mom said we don’t know it was an apple; the Bible just says it was “fruit”. My cousin got angry at Mom because she KNEW it was an apple, and stayed upset for years. Of course, the only time my cousin attended church was for her wedding. My mother went to Bible college, and was a pastor’s wife for 50 years.
The Bible is not a science book.
Science books are not the Bible.
I checked page 126 of my 11th grade Biology textbook (1969). I checked the same topic of a current Biology textbook. The two textbooks don't say the same thing - not even close about the function and role of mitochondria.
I checked page 126 of two Bibles... published two hundred years apart. They say the exact same thing.
The Bible speaks the Truth. God's Word is Truth. The Truth doesn't change.
I choose to trust God's Word when the question is "What is true?"
For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart. Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe.
