I have wondered for years how a purportedly celibate and chaste individual would have any notion of their sexuality. More importantly why it would even arise if one were successful in discouraging any entertainment of impure thoughts of the flesh whatsoever.

Well, maybe the silver lining here is, if they do it more with each other they at least leave the altar boys alone?

As a layman, my sexuality was never inhibited by a vow of celibacy. The question arose in 2003 when a tech co-worker in San Francisco said he left the priesthood over the Church’s view of his homosexuality. It struck me as odd since celibacy is foundational to the calling.

As a Catholic layman, my vow of celibacy until I married never inhibited my sexuality.

But you are not responding to my original comment. Why would my tech co-worker in San Francisco have to leave the priesthood over the Churchs view of homosexuality, if he wasn’t engaging in sex (auto-erotic or with a partner) or distracted by impure thoughts as a priest? It just didn’t make sense against that backdrop.

You're original comment was:

And your screen name raises questions I have about what exactly you wonder about.

My FR handle is about a vacuum attachment for performing household chores since joining FR in 2004. Have you never performed any household chores?
