Some parishioners would see that policy as “Don’t ask, don’t tell.”
Others may see it as; “See No Evil”.
Eventually, the controversy will have to be dealt with directly.
To: marshmallow
Seems to me they are doing so already, and have been for a while.

The church was founded when Henry VIII sought to secure an annulment from Catherine of Aragon. It is a church of “convenience.” Now it is showing its face, abandoning Biblical teaching and accepting homosexual tolerance. Nonsense.

Their eyes are already blind. In which direction do they plan to turn one of those blind eyes? And then, what happens to the other blind eye? Those church fathers must all be practicing this fancy trick in front of the mirror as we speak.

“Currently, gay members of the clergy who have been ordained are asked to be celibate, change jobs or seek a promotion to become a bishop...”
Hold on. How can gay clergy be a problem for them—their clergy have been able to get married for centuries. So why should they have any gays much less want them to become bishops??!! Everyone knows a married clergy stops the gays from being a problem.
I’m pretty sure this is just fake news.
Obviously.

Am I the only one who suspects that line came from a Monty Python sketch?
Be celibate, change jobs, or get promoted to bishop.
It really is funny.

Oh, and why would being promoted to bishop solve the cork soaking problem?

How is this proposal any different from what has been practiced by Catholic bishops in the US and the Vatican itself for fifty years or more?
To: marshmallow
What would you expect from the spiritual heirs of the vile and decadent Henry VIII. It should call itself the Cult of Crass Epicureanism.

That line does rather leap out at one, in light of other thread’s discussions, doesn’t it?
