There's apocryphal material in the Nevi’im and Ketuvim, but the Old Testament doesn't concern itself too much with Ol’ Scratch.
While there is abundant evidence for God throughout Creation, there is NO evidence for the “devil” until he is abstracted through the human mind, primarily as an agent responsible for Man's failures, even lessening Man's own responsibilities.
What happened to Benedict then?
Benedict was not removed. He resigned.
There is no process by which a Pope can be removed.
Who's being naive?
Sure. He “resigned”.
There’s no evidence he was coerced or even pressured to resign.
The point is that there’s no legal mechanism for removing a Pope against his will.
There’s nothing naive about noting that there is no legal process for the removal of a Pope.
