Question: Is it necessary for a Christian to attend church?

A Christian should be congregation-less only in the most unusual circumstances.

IMHO

We are looking for a new church. We have been attending the First Presbyterian Church in Seattle. The congregation voted to leave Presbyterian Churches USA, so now we are just an independent Presbyterian Church. The Presbytery took us to court to take over our church property, which we lost. They also confiscated all our assets and bank accounts. They are trying to 'starve us out and destroy us, as we will be unable to pay our bills, and pay wages to church staff and ministers. We have no funds to rent a new worship space.

Hard, hard, hard.

We are looking at the First Covenant Church. We don't know much about it accept the founding fathers immigrated from Sweden.

Part of this group: The Evangelical Covenant Church?

If so, I agree with the commenter who noted that they seem vague on specifics, beyond some very basic stuff.

I note that they can take or leave infant baptism. Curious. This is like the official stance of the Evangelical Free Church, which we were members of for a number of years. The EFCA is also a Swedish immigrant church (sort of). Something in the water?

(We eventually, for a number of reasons, moved on to a local PCA plant. I'm much happier with a normal Reformed service of worship.)

However, we will continue with our old church body until it has been completely dissolved.

Good. Hopefully they can prevail and survive.
