Didn’t Paul VI accept a minority report on the prohibition of birth control?

A report that supported the traditional teachings of the Church, not one that introduced novelties. I'm really rather disturbed by your line of reasoning, it's not the sane logic I've come to expect from you.

What we see at the encounter with the woman at the well is Our Lord working before the institution of the Church with an outsider. What we are dealing with here is members of the Baptized who persist in sin. Or shall we no longer call it sin? Abortion and homosexuality are popular sins too, should we just throw in the towel because so many are caught up in them?

These Synods are Vatican II/Paul VI novelties. They are not Traditional.

The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I may not be thirsty or have to keep coming here to draw water.”

16Jesus said to her, “Go call your husband and come back.” 17The woman answered and said to him, “I do not have a husband.” Jesus answered her, “You are right in saying, ‘I do not have a husband.’

18For you have had five husbands, and the one you have now is not your husband. What you have said is true.”f 19The woman said to him, “Sir, I can see that you are a prophet.g

23But the hour is coming, and is now here, when true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and truth;* and indeed the Father seeks such people to worship him.

[4:23] In Spirit and truth: not a reference to an interior worship within one’s own spirit. The Spirit is the spirit given by God that reveals truth and enables one to worship God appropriately (Jn 14:16–17). Cf. “born of water and Spirit” (Jn 3:5).

This passage was not about approving of multiple spouses, but the effect of meeting Jesus and having faith in God in the spirit and the truth.

The woman was changed. It can be presumed that she began to understand the Truth and lead a life of faith. Jesus did not condone adultery.

This did not change God’s word about marriage, but we can put our past life and actions behind us if we change and follow the Truth.

Jesus went out of His way to speak with her and drink from her cup. Just as Jesus reaches out to all sinners so that we may follow Him.

It is not about the hardliners, it is about following the Word of God - the Truth. We must change, not the Truth.

Please check out the Traditional parish. The instruction is often one on one and therefore shorter but more comprehensive. Prayers and best wishes on your journey.

Yes, I am aware of Think Progress. But if you read carefully, the article is linked to the National Catholic Reporter. Go check out the accuracy. Sometimes, there is stuff even in the NY Times that is indeed accurately reported.

I hope you don’t take the “Catholic” in “National Catholic Reporter” seriously.
