If the ctetin form where ever he was in South America had offered me a satans skull i couldnt have been any more revolted by it than the ANTI Christian hammer and sickle crucifix.

More likely he was exercising a bit of tact.
He has also made enough comments in homilies and "off the cuff" remarks that I am not able to accept the "he was quoted out of context" argument that is so popular with his apologists.
Or he has decided that people are going to misquote him no matter what he says and that it is better to just say it then spend a lot of time fretting over whether or not someone can distort and twist a comment.
I'm not quite ready to say he is a heretic (here I am referring to small 'c' catholic small 'o' orthodoxy as opposed to Orthodoxy), but I strongly suspect it.
The key to not seeing him as a heretic is to understand that people can actually have disagreements over things.

That’s right, just move your deck chair to the port side of the SS Francis, everythings’s gonna be alright.

No reason why a Marxist would be offended.

I wrote to Bishop Olmsted (diocese of PHX) Friday about my horror at the Pope accepting a hammer and sickle crucifix. I received an answer from his assistant chancellor that I was guilty of bad judgement of the Pope. He said the Pope was just being diplomatic to his host. Today I emailed him back asking what is the explanation now the Pope says he is not offended by the crucifix. No reply now that Church is caught in active coverup of the Pope’s actions. This is one Catholic who is sick to death of the apologists for this Pope.

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 2 Cor 6:14-15

At the very least.
And if that doesn’t fly, it’s *misquoted*, *misinterpreted*, or *misunderstood*

A decent pope would have swung that desecration right through Evo Morales’s teeth.

That’s surprising that a crucifix didn’t offend the Marxist.

An innumerable amount of Catholics have been killed and persecuted by Communists. Therefore, I don’t see how the Pope can be “tactful” with the Communist leaders of Bolivia and Cuba.
The Pope takes up leftists causes like “Global Warming” and socialism. If some disagree with the Pope it is because his actions help enable tyrants to rule over those who love liberty and cherish freedom.
The Pope’s actions are louder than his words.

Would the pope be just as glad to receive a "swastika" Crucifix?
After all, the Nazis were good socialists.

He should have been offended.

I think what is also interesting about this update is that so many of the Catholic news reports were reporting that Francis "rebuked" the Communist leader, was "not amused", and that he was "set up", etc.
For some posters here, they would argue that those reporting agencies are legit and accurate. It's only those "other" reporting agencies that are mistranslated, taken out of context, etc. Guess the so-called Catholic reports aren't so reliable after all.
