Outrage over this action by Muslims, yet not one word about the Inquisition. No direct apology for this event. The watered down apology by JP II doesn't cut it either.

Nor has the rcc abolished the "office" responsible for this atrocity. They just changed the name.

In Italy, after the restoration of the Pope as the ruler of the Papal States in 1814, the activity of the Papal States Inquisition continued on until the mid-19th century, notably in the well-publicised Mortara Affair (1858–1870). In 1908 the name of the Congregation became "The Sacred Congregation of the Holy Office", which in 1965 further changed to "Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith", as retained to the present day.

Today it is Charlie Hebdo, tomorrow it could very well be the Bible.

"Anti-Catholic artists in this country have provoked me to hold many demonstrations, but never have I counseled violence."

Bill Donahue said that toward the end of the article. I hope everyone took the time to read the article in its entirety, rather than a simple excerpt.

The Inquisition argument has nothing to do with Donohue. Again, go to the site and read! Check out what the League's purpose actually is, and who is on the board!

Shall Catholics then expect an apology from Queen Elizabeth, the present-day head of the Church of England, for Henry VIII Tudor? People were tortured and heads rolled then- all because he wanted a divorce. I, for one don't expect that.

We have saints in our Church whom the Inquisition persecuted, most notably St. Teresa of Avila and St. John of the Cross. Whom do we apologize to then?

No matter what is done it will never be enough to those who despise Catholicism.
