Well said.
> Crowley didnt write the Satanic Bible, that was Anton LaVey. They did both subscribe to the exact same axiom though, as do the Wiccans. They are all united as hedonists, worshiping themselves above all else.
You are right though I do remember some source that said Crowley was involved in some capacity. You drive home my main point though...: )
——How can someone hate God so much when they don’t believe He exists? -——
I always when framing the argument with an atheist ....it is the same thing as me ranting and raving against the man on the moon...that doesn’t exist...
Shuts them up pretty quick...makes them look irrational...
which they are...
There was a True Crime episode on TV a while back about what happened to O’Hare and her family. The perp wasn’t part of her organization, just some psycho she hired to manage her finances. He hated her because she was verbally abusive to him, so he and two accomplices kidnapped the three of them, forced her to sign over her assets, and then murdered them and buried them in the desert. It took the Feds almost ten years to find the bones, which is why all her followers thought she was on the lam somewhere. Sounds a bit like divine retribution, doesn’t it?
That philosophy is as old as the Garden. Satan appealed to Eve to do what she wanted because God was keeping good things back from her. Today our culture is saturated with this philosophy. Madonna was the “Material Girl” who made millions leading many down the broad road to destruction. And as many Christians have pointed out over the years, Whitney Houston’s seemly innocuous song “The Greatest Love” was actually spiritual poison. She sang “Learning to love yourself, it is the greatest love of all.” Scripture clearly contradicts Whitney, “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.”
The “do what thou wilt” philosophy is at the bottom of the modern emphasis on “self-esteem” that adorns magazines aimed at women. It is spewed by ignorant psychologists and popular and very foolish talk show hosts like Oprah. This morally bankrupt philosophy is all about self-autonomy. Living for self is the surest way to Hell, yet companies cleverly use this hedonistic philosophy in their slogans. Nike says “Just Do It!” Sprite says “Obey Your Thirst!” And we can’t forget Apple. Apple is all about King I. I don’t think it’s happenstance that Apple’s symbol is a simple apple with a lone bite out of it. Unfortunately “take up thy cross and follow me” doesn’t have the same appeal to spiritually dead sinners as autonomous hedonism.
Good illustration of why Democrats are seething thugs.
Maybe she said “Just remember, if you kill me, then I’ll see you again in Hell for my revenge!”
Some atheists are more honest and will state that they believe that Christian theological concepts are human inventions... and therefore they are really opposing human methods of dominating other humans. But by making such an assertion they come closer to God’s heart, and are more open to being won by a genuine gospel.
The opposition that says I just will do what my grotty little heart pleases no matter what I encounter, is the one that’s going to find hell is the only home that will accept it.
I think those atheists who are angry—I know many who aren’t angry people at all—are angry at religion, not God.
God=God
Religion=what people say about God.
I get your point....
So would these same atheists would be angry if I started a religion based on the man on the moon...?
What difference does it make (did I say that ?) If we base our religion on a non existent deity or a non existent man on the moon?
My experience is that atheists are angry about religion to the extent they believe it is being imposed on them, or in the case of left wing atheists, working to counter their political beliefs. So if your man on the moon religion espoused conservative values and gained enough followers the lefties probably would hate it too.
Thanks for the insight. I always enjoy hearing your opinion.
Some are honest enough to eventually admit this. That God himself isn’t really a worthy target of their anger. It’s the dirty tricks of people they hate.
Some, however, do get so hyper sensitive about it, you wonder if they are like the man who really is running his nose into the other guy’s fist even though it takes a whole lot of trouble to do so.
Well, I try to be fair, sometimes to a fault. Because I’ve been there and done a lot of those things. I’ve razzed Christians when really it was me distorting what they were claiming.
But because I’ve done it the wrong way so often, I can see when others are doing it the wrong way too. I’ve seen the bibliolatry. I’ve seen the ego. I’ve seen the rage. I’ve seen the lust, the envy, the sloth, the greed. I have done all of that. And submitting myself into the hand of the Lord is the only way to escape it.
As have I. We are slaves to whatever it is that controls us, and if sin controls us, then we are slaves to it. Submitting to the Lord, truly is the way to escape the slavery of sin, even though I struggle mightily against it. I am sure I am not the only Christian on earth who struggles against sin.
