The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints says most of Smith's wives were adults, but one was a 14-year-old girl who was the daughter of Smith's close friends. Research shows the marriage might not have involved sex.

In his book In Sacred Loneliness: The Plural Wives of Joseph Smith, Mormon historian Todd Compton documents that Smith had:

Eleven of these women were already married to other men at the time Joseph married them. Compton concludes his findings about their ages in this way:
"The teenage representation is the largest, though the twenty-year and thirty-year groups are comparable, which contradicts the Mormon folk-wisdom that sees the beginning of polygamy as an attempt to care for older, unattached women. These data suggest that sexual attraction was an important part of the motivation for Smith's polygamy" (p. 11).

When polygamy is legalized that satanic cult’s colors will be revealed. After fag marriages and polygamy, the next taboo to be conquered will be pedophilia.

So he had 33 wives? That’s a lot of guys that are doing without.... Aren’t Mormons also supposed to believe the Bible in addition to their ‘Book of Mormons’? If so, how does polygamy get supported and squared when 1 Timothy 3:2 says....”A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach...”

Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.

eleven wives between 14 and 20 years old,
nine wives between 21 and 30 years old,
eight wives between 31 and 40 years old,
two wives between 41 and 50 years old, and
three wives between 51 and 60 years old.

Eleven of these women were already married to other men at the time Joseph married them.

At what point does it not become a personal issue ??
Bigotry is a personal issue !!, is it not ?
I am not a Morman, having self-excommunicated several years ago.
But to advance pedophilia as a principle of early Mormanism, excluding the historical perspective as it existed then., is a lie.
I am asking a question . Would you have me lie, so as to be politially correct in today's age?

This is an open thread in the Religion Forum meaning posters may argue for and against dietiies, religious authorities, belief groups, etc.

The debate is often contentious. Some will be offended. You do not have a right not to be offended.

If you do not care for this style of debate then IGNORE the open RF threads and instead read and post to RF threads labeled caucus, devotional, prayer or ecumenical.

Who cares? If one faggot can marry another faggot— can he marry two? If women who have oral sex with women can adopt children to watch them — who the hell cares about 10 wives or 10 husbands for one sore wife? Give me a break. The Courts have spoken so lets marry any thing and any body. IT IS OUR RIGHT!!!

Using your logic,

Abraham, Isaac (probably Jacob too)were polygamists ..... so the Bible and Christianity must not be true either!!!!

Another guideline on the Religion Forum - posts containing potty language or reference to potty language - are removed as soon as we see them.

Aren’t Mormons also supposed to believe the Bible in addition to their ‘Book of Mormons’?

They only believe the Bible insofar as it is translated correctly. They believe there are errors in it. Which, of course, is convenient whenever their Mormon writings contradict the Bible.

Sorry , I didn't relize that a normal body function was considered "potty language".
I will try to conduct myself in a more celestial , and use more uplifiting language in the future.
Incidently , what do we call Bigotry ?(so as to not make it personal and ficticious) ?

If polygamy was so important, needed to enter heaven, why didn’t Jesus preach about it when he was with his apostles?

If Jesus is Lord and Savior, why do the Mormons ignore him and listen to a lust filled man, Joseph Smith?
