Go visit the site at http://www.recongress.org/ for more information. If you still believe that the only proper way to worship and share God is to sit still in a pew on Sunday mornings you're really missing the boat.
I love this.
We used to do stuff like that at Camp Kateri when I was 8.It probably helped me rejoice in the Lord til the s'mores got done.
Disgraceful and disrespectful at the very least.
There ya go.
They aren’t ‘loving and praising God’, even if they think so. They are indulging in human primal urges which is an open door to the devil.
Oh...so tell me, oh perfect one, what is the proper way to “love and praise” God? Is it to sit perfectly still and quiet in the pew on Sunday mornings only? What are your approved songs? I guess you should instruct the Archdiocese of Los Angeles on the proper way to praise God. This was their conference.
We haven’t gotten a communion rail yet but we did get the Tabernacle moved from it’s “nook” to better behind the altar. We’re using the vacated space in the nook for an old school “candle altar” (not sure if that is the term). We’re installing it just in time for the Easter Vigil.
They aren’t praising God they are celebrating and rejoicing in their primal animal nature, causing them to be deluded and open to other demonic suggestions.
So, do you believe you are God because you are determining what is in their hearts and minds? Who are you to determine that they are not praising God? You haven't explained to me what "proper" praise looks and sounds like.
It smacks of exhibitionism at the very least. "Look at me"!
"He must increase, but I must decrease." John 3:30
You are continually posting "I'm reading your mind" type comments which, I believe, are a violation of rules of the religion forum.
In answer to your earlier question - what constitutes acceptable music for worship -- type this into a search bar for a start: "traditional liturgical sacred music".
And as a more general reply: No, I don't take it that uninhibited Jim Jone's type gyrations necessarily constitute worship, although the participants may be deluded into thinking they are. True liturgical dance is directed by the Holy Spirit, not the endocrine system.
BUT - Fr. Barron was there with our new Archbishop Gomez. It was FINALLY way conservative and orthodox. You cannot expect all the dancers to just go home — it’s LA, right?? We celebrate our new Archbishop!
If one has bad knees, is in a wheelchair or has some other physical ailment preventing them from kneeling, then they are not expected to kneel for Communion.
I think the guy with the wok was cooking kung pao chicken.
this is crazy, how can he get away with this?
Are you a Catholic??
Jesus Christ is and should always be center in our lives, be it at home or at church. This is truly wonderful news.
If for some reason you can't kneel, you simply stand at the rail. The priest is quite close enough to administer communion to anyone who has to stand.
To turn it round the other way, if you're at an NO and you want to kneel, even if there is no rail, you can. It doesn't freak them out unless you're in a really goofy parish, and then I don't just out of being a good guest.
This has been an ongoing problem in LA, so this is not the only incident of this liturgical "dancing". It happens frequently during Mass as well.
The first problem is that it is not appropriate or correct for Catholic worship, nothing in the tradition justifies it. It all started when a few American bishops took a loophole intended for third-world converts with a strong religious dance tradition, and let the Jules Feiffer ladies in the door.
The second problem is (and I'm speaking as a trained dancer who holds two teaching certificates in two dance disciplines) these people are lousy dancers who couldn't get a gig ANYWHERE else. The man looks like he's just slouching along in street clothes, the second lady in pink has no business appearing anywhere in a leotard, and the three ladies in tie-die (tie-die!) are completely out of alignment in their out-of-synch gyrations.
These people take advantage of the artistic ignorance of the clergy.
They did have a Friday concert, at which a couple of Irish step dancers performed. They were pretty good -
