The thing is that in this case I think it's the Catholic leaders who are also offended by it.

Of course it could also be that they think Trent was out of control. Scripture doesn't support the positions taken there. But if one is going to be Catholic, be Catholic, not this wishy-washy stance seemingly taken today. When the liberals of the world are applauding you, you are not doing anything for Christ. If Catholicism needs reformation, then do it, don't leave the Catholics faithful to Catholicism in limbo, no pun intended.

America was Chosen of God to spread Freedom throughout the world...as tarnished that mission may seem of late.

Still the Christian mission, God's Word, once proclaimed doesn't return void, but accomplishes that which God intended. The faithful Christian will continue to proclaim the message of salvation despite an apparent lack of effect because of God's direction.
