Anyone can do what they want with their money.
But, this is another example of illogic and irrationality on the part of atheists.
Perhaps they can support a doctor who decided to o Christian Science for a year and for some reason lost his job as a medical doctor.
How do you “experiment” with Atheism? Should I experiment an be a liberal for a year?
This is satire ... right? (tell me it is satire...)
In any case the real experiment of being an atheist occurs before one accepts Christ as their Savior.
It's a stunt. If he wants to leave, he should just leave. The whole world doesn't need to know about his apostasy.
“So I find myself, on Day 4, without any employment. My savings will run out in about two weeks and I’m scrambling to find immediate work doing, well anythingmanual labor, waiting tables, other teaching and consulting, or whatever I can find,” wrote Bell, a Seventh Day Adventist, on his blog ‘Year Without God’.
Sounds like old fashioned apostasy to me; how one can live their life without Christ for a year is beyond me!
Sounds like he decided to do a perversion of Job. He chose to perform this stunt, therefore, let him live with the consequences of doing it.
You either believe or don’t.
There is no deciding that you won’t believe for a period of time.
This doesn’t make any sense to me. If one is a committed Christian how can they then ‘experiment’ with atheism? Either you believe in God or you don’t. This smells like a publicity stunt to me by a very cynical and deceptive person.
Next he'll want to try out being a woman for a year, or being gay for a year. Sounds like a very confused man.
Taking this in another light. I wonder if the former pastor is practicing a scam on atheists.
Its commonly held to be true that a fool and his money will soon be parted. And it is in scripture that, the fool says in his heart there is no God. (Ps 14)
He’s just making money off of Non-believers.
This guy doesn't understand Bonhoeffer.
Can you say ‘get rich quick’ scheme? Wow, these rubes are getting taken for a ride.
“Bell had announced his experiment to “try on” atheism for a year in The Huffington Post on New Year’s Eve, saying he was struggling with his faith and had difficulty reconciling it with the treatment of homosexuals and women in the Adventist Church.”
Says it all. Another bleeding heart leftist.
Not really a publicity stunt. He wants the cash. Just like that lesbian waitress.
Probably the same way my liberal whack-job sister-in-law decided she was going to “step back from Christianity for awhile”. I pray for her.
That was my thought too. You either believe or you don't. How do you all the sudden not believe in God? This experiment is silly. If the pastor honestly can shut off his beliefs, he should not be a pastor.
Guy needs to go read about “Pascal’s Wager”.
Good analogy. However, if he is a pastor, then he believes in God. As such, he might go through the motions of atheism but God remains in his heart and mind. What is he actually doing to rid himself of that Presence?
"So I find myself, on Day 4, without any employment. My savings will run out in about two weeks and I'm scrambling to find immediate work doing, well anythingmanual labor, waiting tables, other teaching and consulting, or whatever I can find," wrote Bell, a Seventh Day Adventist, on his blog 'Year Without God'.
