I don’t see it as deception if you ask someone to pray to God in the name of Jesus Christ about something. That is entirely Biblical.

Norm... absolutely NOT Biblical to ask God about something He has already spoken about.

James teaches us that, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” (James 1:5)

Jesus tells us to “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you” (Matthew 7:7)

When we need enlightenment from God we should certainly go to him in prayer and if we ask in humility and faith he will answer us.

“know of no religion that has Protestants, Catholics and Jews as members.”

But, but, there are handshakes! And meetings!

And I read on a nut-whacko-website-that-linked to other nut-whacko-websites that masons are in control of the Jew-Banker-National-Treasure-Amenhoptepe silver chair!

You have post after post, after post, where you can’t explain yourself, only attack or pretend that you didn’t make the post at all, you are clearly angry, or else you wouldn’t be displaying anger.

“James teaches us that, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” (James 1:5)”

This teaches that God gives us wisdom. It does NOT teach us to pray and ask God if the Bible revelation is really true, or if Christ is a created creature, etc. He has already revealed truth. We are to accept it. When we do pray for WISDOM, we are not praying for FEELINGS.

“Jesus tells us to “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you” (Matthew 7:7)”

Jesus does not teach us to pray about things already revealed. He teaches us to obey revelation - not feelings.

“When we need enlightenment from God we should certainly go to him in prayer and if we ask in humility and faith he will answer us.”

Again, Facts and Feelings are two different things. YOUR feelings (as you’ve revealed them on FR) contradict Gods FACTS. No amount of prayer will eliminate God’s revelation and substitute your subjective (and probably demonic) feelings.

I disagree, ampu. The Holy Spirit can and does communicate light and truth to the hearts of men and women. We’re not talking about emotions — there is such a thing as revelation from God that can guide and direct us.

That is the reason I became a Latter-day Saint, and remain one.

Best,

Normandy

You can disagree, but only if you do not understand my point. Of course, the Holy Spirit can guide Christians. He does NOT guide them away from God’s revelation, which HE inspired.

Once you abandon that Inspired Revelation - inspired by the Holy Spirit - you cannot claim HE made you do it. He doesn’t Lie. You can’t have it both ways Normandy.

That leaves two choices:

1. Just your feelings
2. Satan.

The mormonic faith abandons the Spirit Inspired Objective Revelation and accepts instead, feelings - personal or demonic.

I understand your point, ampu — but I don’t see anything in the Bible that would preclude God providing more revelation in modern times, or calling prophets and apostles in our days.

Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.

"I don’t see anything in the Bible that would preclude God providing more revelation in modern times, or calling prophets and apostles in our days." Hi Normandy,

Apostles and Prophets WERE the foundation of the Church. That foundation was laid already. For instance, read this:

Ephesians 2: - "you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone."

As to additional revelation Normandy, I just want to add that if there ever was additional revelation, it cannot contradict what has already been revealed about the nature of God, the Gospel of Grace, the nature of man, etc. Mormonism contradicts all that and more.

BOTH cannot be true. God reveals Himself as ONE God, who has no beginning or end. Christ is revealed in Scripture as wholly God and wholly man, eternal and not created. Man's nature is revealed. The Gospel of Grace was given and Scripture calls any other Gospel a false gospel.

Normandy,
As a follow up comment about Apostles being “once for all” gifts to the Church, please read this passage:

“And the wall of the city had twelve foundation stones, and on them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.” (Revelation 21:14)

Please notice that the names of the 12 Apostles are written on the foundation stones in the heavenly city in the future and they are called the “twelve apostles of the Lamb.”

Not 13, 14, 15, 16, etc.

There are no other Apostles that are recognized by God as Apostles. that they are rightly called the foundation of the Church is confirmed in eternity, where their actual names are inscribed on the foundation stones of the New Jerusalem.

Any claims of Apostles after the 12 is contradicted by Scripture.

Hi ampu, I agree that the original 12 (minus Judas) have a special role to play in the Kingdom — but this doesn’t mean there would be no more apostles. What about Paul?

There are just twelve foundation stones with just twelve names, according to God.

Which twelve specifically? Is Judas’ replacement there, or Paul?

We don’t know. We do know there are only 12.

Maybe the 12 mentioned are the 11 plus Matthias (Judas’s replacement)

But still, Paul is an additional apostle to the first 12.
