The catholic Church names someone as a Saint and that is evidence its not a cult? I don’t get it.
If a “saint” was someone who lived their whole life the way to should be led, we would never hear of them. No, instead Catholics give humans credit for “miracles” (instead of crediting God), it doesn’t matter how they lived the rest of their lives, and then humans decide to call them Saints.
That is kind of cultic.
"I sure hope I am standing within hearing range when some of this lovely bunch come before the judgment."
One can surely see how one might be led to believe that the first statement is negated by the second.
LOL
It is miraculous to heal a man with no eyes.
There’s nothing miraculous about strapping on bombs.
Are the two things really just the same for you?
Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.<<
At least we have the word of God to support us. No RCC or some other hierarchical organization to which we look for salvation.
Ecclesiastes 9:5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. 6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.
1 Thessalonians 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
Need more?
You just claimed that Catholics believe in the Bible so show us book, chapter and verse where it is taught to pray to those who have departed this world.
Throughout the New Testament, people ask other people to pray for them. E.g., Saint Paul.
Since these same people, when they die, are still alive in God, in heaven, to cease asking them to pray for us seems just plain silly.
Ancestor worship?
Praying to dead humans was not part of the Bible.
They can’t hear you. They have no such power. Only Jesus/God can.
It is pointless to pray to a dead relative who cannot hear you and has no power instead of praying to HIM who can hear you and save you.
Oh really! Peter believed the writings of Paul to be scripture as he included them with scripture.
2 Peter 3:15b. As also our beloved brother Paul wrote to you, according to the wisdom given him, [16] as in all his letters, speaking concerning these matters, in which some things are hard to understand, which those who are untaught and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do also THE OTHER SCRIPTURES. [17] You then, beloved ones, being forewarned, watch lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being let away with the delusion of the lawless.
>>There is not one verse in all of Scripture that says that Scripture alone is the source of revelation.<<
Hmmm, I wonder why Paul would say, by inspiration of the Holy Spirit, that scripture is the only source to go to even to see what he taught was so?
Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
The RCC lies.
The verse from Thessalonians has absolutely no bearing on your point.
The verse from Ecclesiastes is a single verse—from the Old Testament. It is absurd to think that a single verse, out of context, from an OT book necessarily lays out developed Christian doctrine.
BTW: Jesus said to cut off your hand and pluck out your eye. Have you done it yet?
Excuse me for butting in, but again you make a statement in direct contradiction to what a Scripture is telling us. That is just how your organization teaches, evidently, because picking and choosing is normal modus operandi for the Roman Catholic horde.
But, to make the point more fully, I will include the same scriptures that I already posted to you, containing more of the relevant verses. Only a dullard cannot plainly see what Scripture is telling us. Only a deceiver would tell us that people that are dead can effectually move God. I even highlighted the last sentence where Paul tells us that the people who already died before us will be going there before the living people. With all of the gobbledygook coming from Rome, I guess it is easy to be confused by the actual Scripture.
1 Thessalonians 4: 13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15 According to the Lords word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.
So you follow the suppositions? Didnt God say not to add to what He taught? I dont remember the Holy Spirit inspiring the apostles to write about praying through anyone who had departed this world.
You mean like this?
Matthew 23:33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?
1 Corinthians 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.
And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever--the Spirit of Truth. The world cannot accept Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you. John 14:16,17
Acts 15:8 And God, who knows the heart, bore witness by granting them the holy Spirit just as he did us. 9 He made no distinction between us and them, for by faith he purified their hearts.
Why do Catholics insist on exposing their ignorance of scripture?
Well, if one knew me one would not conclude that...but as I said Catholics only see what they want to see.
Catholics seem to be specially equipped to hear only what they want to hear and to be able to take the meaning of any words and make them fit their mind-set.
I sincerely do desire to be there on judgement day as Catholics give account of themselves but not for the reasons you think.
However, I don’t think any of you here would ever believe that.
I wish you well and I truly hope that it does it up well for you.
Thank you for that research. Well done!
Genesis 3: 3 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, Did God really say, You must not eat from any tree in the garden?
2 The woman said to the serpent, We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.
4 You will not certainly die, the serpent said to the woman. 5 For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.
6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. ...
John 5: 24 Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. 25 Very truly I tell you, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live. 26 For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself. 27 And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man.
28 Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice 29 and come outthose who have done what is good will rise to live, and those who have done what is evil will rise to be condemned. ...
