We got a statue of George Patton at our local VFW but we don’t “worship” him....

Catholics worship Mary, no matter how much they deny it. I was raised in the Catholic religion. I know first hand. And if God is self-existent (has no beginning), and is Mary's Creator, why do you insist on calling her Mother of God, both as a term of cussing, and in your Hail Mary prayer?

“Catholics worship Mary, no matter how much they deny it. I was raised in the Catholic religion. I know first hand. “

Catholics venerate the Blessed Mother and the Saints. Catholics only worship God. I’m sorry you were raised improperly in the Catholic religion. Please reconsider the true Catholic teaching.

I did not realize you weren’t Catholic.

Based on your commentary, it is apparent that you are not a Catholic. Luke 11:23.

Seriously?! The "Luther card" so soon after you were already disputed yesterday and the SAME false argument, even! Tell me, did you read that link I gave you or did you ignore it? My guess is the latter. What will it take for FRoman Catholics here to quit tossing out that card as if it was some kind of conversation grenade? It only appeals to other Catholics who are ignorant of who Luther was and what he did or didn't do in his life. For those of us who recognize that Luther was but one of many Reformers who were brave enough to buck a corrupted monastic hierarchy that the Catholic Church embodied and opened the Word of God to the souls hungry for the truth of the Gospel, we do not worship or venerate mere humans but give ALL glory and honor to the ONLY one to whom it must be paid - the Lord Jesus Christ. If I were you, I'd tear up that card and bring real arguments to the discussion - if you have them.

They give hyper-dulia to Mary, it just looks pretty much like worship.

The shrines, religious medals, scapulas, and relics are used like talismans or more like good luck charms.

You know that is the pot calling the kettle black!!! I have had Baptists do me that way only to tell me I’m going to hell because I don’t go to their little backwards inbreed country redneck Baptist church!!! They never asked me if I knew Jesus or anything about salvation just “you don’t go to our Baptist church so you are going to hell”. Yea that attitude warms me to their screwed up religion real fast now don’t it?

So, you know how we feel then???

Jim permits this. He is the owner. That’s my understanding.

Yes, he does, but don't you think that his graceful permission is taken for granted and abused a lot of time? Put the shoe on the other foot for a minute and imagine the Free Republic Religion Forum consisting of MOSTLY all Protestant-flavored threads or anti-Roman Catholic articles. Would you feel comfortable sending your friends here or would you hesitate or warn them first that, if they went to the RF, they shouldn't think FR is a Protestant only website?

Combined, I wonder how much money the Catholic contingent donates here regularly? Does it make up for the domination of the Forum by them?

It took Christianity 1,500 years to find Luther and his dogma challenging the Catholic Church. How long is it going to take to challenge Luther’s dogma, another 1,000 years? Or is Luther forever and ever politically (or theologically, if you prefer) correct? That’s what some say about Karl Marx.

That which we call a rose by any other name.....

All so they can deny what is patently obvious that they do.

Then Catholics don't understand what Biblical worship really is.

Yawn!!!!

Twice now you have accused me of not being a Catholic. Yet, you are the one who posts articles, supposedly Catholic, which are heretical.

Tell me, NYer, do you not believe every Catholic Mass, is the unbloody sacrifice of Christ upon the Cross?

Do you agree with the Popes, Saints and myself or some goofball named Shane?

Then you were poorly cathecized and should take it up with the person that lied to you.

And if God is self-existent (has no beginning), and is Mary's Creator, why do you insist on calling her Mother of God, both as a term of cussing, and in your Hail Mary prayer? Maybe you never realy thought about it. Jesus is God and believe it or not Mary bore Him in her womb and gave birth to him.

Even a simple Jewish peasant woman recognized this: Luke 1:43 And why is this granted to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

Was Elizabeth lying, isn't Jesus God

Let me guess.

That’s an example of the intellectual depth needed to enter a theological debate with a Catholic?

I’ve been giving them too much credit.

And of course, nothing about why Catholics believe in evolution (and that Genesis 1-11 is mythology). >>

Huh, where did you get this? I’m sure there are some liberals out there who believe in evolution and darwinism but most Catholics I know are creationists. I’m Catholic and am a staunch creationist.

No it is a much more intellectual response than your comment deserved. About a 100 times more.

It’s quite interesting that you have refused to engage any self-professed Protestant on this thread, but have taken the time to accuse a fellow Catholic of being a non-Catholic more than once.

Does the ecumenism cat have your tongue?

So where do Catholics get their definition of worship if not the Bible?
