lol -I use to watch debates between James White and Mitch Pacwa and others. I have read and listened to his dividing line radio. You sound like your a James White Acolyte or James White Himself. Very confident of what you think. Interesting. You writings are very familar in style and substance. Also you stated you are your “own website.” Interesting to write as such.

"Non believers would love to point out how religious threads here always end up with flame wars." True, and I feel sure there are some non believers who work very hard to present themselves as someone who is Christian while in reality they are anything but Christian. They're here specifically to bait others and keep flame wars going as often as possible.

"This brief vignette is amazing only in that neither participant knew what God teaches in His Holy Bible about salvation - nor does the article use a single inspired verse to inform. instead, we are treated to a manmade art object as a substitute for His truth. Astounding!" THANK YOU ! How many times can one re-post this comment without being accused of spamming, when this statement is so very important ?
Although it is a Biblical truth that Christ may dwell in our hearts BY FAITH (Ephesians 3:17), there is not one verse of Scripture turning this into a mechanic to be instructed to any sinner seeking salvation.

Non believers would love to point out how religious threads here always end up with flame wars Personally, I think the "who has the better Jesus" threads are a distraction. As Americans and Christians we have much bigger threats facing us.

This brief vignette is amazing only in that neither participant knew what God teaches in His Holy Bible about salvation - nor does the article use a single inspired verse to inform. instead, we are treated to a manmade art object as a substitute for His truth. Astounding! You do realize that Prior to 1455 it was very expensive to copy Bibles/ books and that most people did not own one. I am sure that you are also aware that at that time the vast majority of the population was illiterate and that the use of Art objects was a good way to convey biblical truths to an illiterate population.

You know protestants only memorize a selct number of verses that the current pastor allows them to memorize. They then spout them with a disapproving look, shake of the head, and “tsk, tsk, tsk” or here in the south “Bless their heart.”

In fact, its anti-Biblical. As are the vast majority of protestants on this thread.

Well, now, you can’t take EVERYTHING in John 6 literally, you know.
Only the part about literally eating His flesh and blood, even though it’s completely contrary to the weight of the entire rest of the Bible.

Absolutely true for any relationship.
That’s why I took exception to the statement that Jesus always waits for us to approach Him. It’s simply not true and it’s not supported by Scripture in the least.
For the record, I do not believe that salvation is forced on people. Too many references and commands to choose.
Love not freely given is not love.

Romans 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. Living a good moral life isn't really enough. I know plenty of unbelievers who do that.
Matter of fact, I have a whole family full of people who have never committed any crimes, have not been involved in substance abuse, have intact marriages (only one divorce among seven siblings and that was instigated by the in-law), give to the poor, help people, etc, and yet are either uninterested in Christianity or hostile to it.
Jesus preached the gospel and confirmed it with signs and wonders.

Non believers would love to point out how religious threads here always end up with flame wars You ever notice in the gospels some of the interaction between Jesus and the Pharisees? He had some pretty strong words for them. *hypocrite* and *white washed tomb* come immediately to mind.
Look what they ended up doing to Him because He told them the truth.
Talk about flame war.
Speaking the truth will not engender a positive reaction among those who hate it.

Astounding! And Scripture tells us this.....

Somehow art is conspicuously absent.

Yeah, and I'm sure that an illiterate and impoverished population had an abundance of inexpensive art objects readily available to them.
Who made all the copies of the art objects and how would that be cheaper than the copied books?
Do Catholics ever think through what they believe or are spoon fed?

The Reverend Longenecker is right. Or, why should I trust some anonymous Internet keyboard warriors and amateur theologians over a well educated, well spoken priest?Probably cause the priest is educated in speaking and not the bible...
