The [Catholic) Church has survived for two thousand years.

Not the Catholic church, it started about 1700 years ago give or take a few decades.

Name a currently-surviving institution that comes close.

During New Testament times, with the inspiration of Jesus, His Deity and his sacrifice on the cross, His church was started.

It is made up of every person that "hears what I say and believes in the one who sent me" (Jesus, in John 5:24) who therefore is born again and has that personal relationship with Jesus.

It has been going strong for about 2000 years, and will continue forever. The gates of hell cannot prevail against it.

My premise is that not only should the Shepherd have armed protection, but his Sheep also should be able to protect themselves with Uzi`s if necessary under the Second Amendment {machine guns were legal in NY State until 1922 and and 1932 when racketeering laws passed by NY racketeers in the NY legislature to protect NY Gangs from being fired upon by their victims]. Dolan`s Boss had Uzi guards, but he does not want his Boss`s sheep of whom his Boss is their SERRVANT of Servants, to have the same GOD-Given right as the Pope. This is hypocrisy and you know it. There are no BIGSHOTS in the CHURCH< only Sheep and the Shepherd.

"Any time people come together to worship in His name, that is church."

Amen to that, the simple truth.

"Where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them." Jesus, quoted in Matthew 18:20

The simple truth of the church is that Jesus is the head and we are the body.

Every born again Christian that hears the words of Jesus and believes in God who sent him, is saved and is a member.

Oh my. That incident went that badly? Oops.

There’s a joke about McGreggor. “I’ve built fences straight and truuue, laddy! But do they know me as ‘McGreggor the Fence-builder?’ No!!”

“This is hypocrisy and you know it.”

Then you can show me in the catechism where the Catholic church teaches that the second amendment is contrary to our faith.

“Any time people come together to worship in His name, that is church.”

Since you’re quite skilled with scripture - can you cite where it says this?

If they gather in Jesus name they are included too, of course. I’m not anti-Catholic, I just don’t think Catholics are the ONLY Christians.

That's wonderful, neither do Catholics. Despite our imperfections, He loves each of us perfectly.

you are confused- The Church says that natural Law: even animals defend themselves and their young. I never said what you stated. Go back tro catechism class. Hypocrisy is telling “do as I say, not as I do.” Wake up! Au contraire, the Church even allows nations to go to war for self- defense- gimme a break -

Not the Catholic church, it started about 1700 years ago give or take a few decades.

Correction, it began as scripture states in Matthew 16:18: "And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it."

Peter was the first pope, followed by

First Century

1. St. Peter (32-67)
2. St. Linus (67-76)
3. St. Anacletus (Cletus) (76-88)
4. St. Clement I (88-97)
5. St. Evaristus (97-105)

Second Century

6. St. Alexander I (105-115)
7. St. Sixtus I (115-125)
8. St. Telesphorus (125-136)
9. St. Hyginus (136-140)
10. St. Pius I (140-155)
11. St. Anicetus (155-166)
12. St. Soter (166-175)
13. St. Eleutherius (175-189)
14. St. Victor I (189-199)
15. St. Zephyrinus (199-217)

Third Century

16. St. Callistus I (217-22)
17. St. Urban I (222-30)
18. St. Pontain (230-35)
19. St. Anterus (235-36)
20. St. Fabian (236-50)
21. St. Cornelius (251-53)
22. St. Lucius I (253-54)
23. St. Stephen I (254-257)
24. St. Sixtus II (257-258)
25. St. Dionysius (260-268)
26. St. Felix I (269-274)
27. St. Eutychian (275-283)
28. St. Caius (283-296)
29. St. Marcellinus (296-304)

All the way up to the present day.

Of course it applies for Catholics too.

Gathering in the name of Jesus is the key.

That is what was said in the post, are you being contentious?

(Your post said “But not if it’s two or three Catholics?”)

And why would you want to exclude Catholics?

A lot of them seek Jesus, and in fact a lot of them are Christians.

As a protestant I find the various traditions a bit too much and odd sometimes. But that is mostly due to a lack of knowledge or miss understanding of them. The explanation of the red shoes and the ring in this thread was interesting.

The same is probably true for many catholics ;-) As with Hot Tabasco, I would encourage you to follow the interregnum and conclave on EWTN. The staff provide fascinating information on how these traditions began and their significance, if any. For example, after the pope left the Vatican today, both his apartments and private elevator were sealed.

There's a wealth of interesting facts regarding these protocols here.

Ok, yes perhaps I was being just a bit contentious and I apologize for that. Thank you for understanding. If someone is not seeking Jesus then they aren’t, by definition Christian and most defiantly not Catholic it is however a sad fact that that so many Christians have been led astray but then again we were warned that the road to salvation is narrow.
