What did I take out of context? You made a statement and I corrected you. It is that simple really.

Have you ever met and angry Christian. One that is so angry with those that just don’t get it, that they drive people away from Christianity? Look in the mirror.
And how do we contrast this to Joseph Smith going to the devout Mormon families of teenage girls and tell them that God had chosen the girl to be his polygamist wife; that God had said Smith, the prophet would be destroyed by God unless he married the girl; that the eternal souls and salvation of the girl and the entire family depending on the girl marrying Smith . . . and then Smith sequestering the girl in a room with him, her religion's prophet and leader, and telling her the same thing: her soul, the souls of her family, and the life of her prophet depending on her marrying him?
And I don't make this stuff up. It's in contemporaneous first-hand accounts by the families and the girls. And historians, including prominent LDS Historian Todd Compton, write about it. His award-winning book, In Sacred Loneliness, addresses Smith's polygamy by writing about the wives of Joseph Smith, using their diaries and letters, and the diaries and letters of their parents, children, and friends, and other records.
Compton's response to LDS reviews of his book (FARMS refused to print any response by him) is staggering.
WOW. I’m not an angry Christian, but I am angry about a religion who torments people, blackmails them spiritually and drives most to athiesm. As a Christian, it is my duty to fight such things.

I remember watching the “Sister Wives” program. The Cory Brown family was being questioned at Harvard University about their polygamist way of life.
One of the wives inadvertently made a conceptual error when speaking. She said something like, “The FLDS are following their prophet.”
And I thought... BINGO! You just made a big admission. You admitted that the FLDS follow Jeffs, and you follow your false prophet. There’s no difference between them.

Since you brought up the comparision between polygamy and inner cities answer me this...
When does a community leader (not gov’t) in inner cities...
declare marriages invalid
take kids and give them to other people at random
break up families
and order people not to have sex
while demanding they turn over all property and income to him?

I didn’t make excuses. It was posed why wouldn’t the government do something. I replied, with a fact that we all KNOW TO BE TRUE, the government thrives on a dependent class. If they address one of the dependent classes receiving social services for an undesirable behavior, then they have to address them all, which results in a loss of power. Our current government will not risk loss of power.
That is not an excuse, that is reality. Address that reality, and you can address the rest of it.

And you are partly correct but a comparison to what goes on in the inner cities isn’t accurate at all and really looks like making excuses. The poor in inner cities vote dems. The polygamists don’t.
Why not treat them like the separate issues they are? They can and should be treated differently because they are vastly different. That has been my whole point all along.
Nope, just reading thru the thread and felt the overall IQ of the thread drop 10 points when I encountered your posts.
Pimps come to mind. Drug dealers come to mind. When I lived in the worst hell holes, families did it. I dealt with a woman run over by a boyfriend, you could see the tire tracks across her body. Guess who accompanied her on every doctor vist, every exam?
I knew a woman that was shot, in her car, her body falling across her children, by her husband. Her family (not his) told him where she was, and he punished her for leaving him, permanently. Very clear message to other women in the community.
Due to who we were in the community, my exhusband was shot at, he received personal death threats on myself and our son at the time. So yes, there are some communities that would rival what you have experienced with the FLDS. Do I discount what those women go through. In no way, and I never did that with my posts.
I could go on. I have so many examples, it is mind numbing, and when I could no longer take what went on around me, I moved.
Yes, I know Mormons, not necessarily FLDS. But the mainstream Mormons that I interacted with left me scratching my head. I rented a room in my house, once, to a single mom, who I finally had to evict, because she was, well, nuts, either because she was nuts, or because of the influence of her faith on her. I had a very good male Mormon friend who stopped talking to me, when I tried to convince him not to marry a woman he had never met, who was pregnant by another man who had put her away.
I only addressed why the government won’t do anything.
