That is true, I have seen a lot of new names on some of these threads speaking out against the plague of Mormon theology.
No, Blue Moose, it sounds as if he wasn't. Martin's suit was thrown out. On the other hand, in the case of Joseph Smith, Jr.'s March 1826 criminal lawsuit, he was convicted in South Bainbridge, Chenango County, New York of being a 'money-digger' or 'glass-looker,' for conning Josiah Stowell out of money by pretending to be able to find treasure on his land by using magic objects . . . like a seer stone. This would be four years before Smith claimed to have found golden plates - which no other person saw with physical eyes. The magic seer stone was again involved.
Smith's money-digging days didn't sit well with Isaac Hale, the father of Emma Hale, with whom Joseph would later elope.
In an affidavit signed by Hale and published in the Susquehanna Register, May 1, 1834, Josephs father-in-law said:
"'I first became acquainted with Joseph Smith, Jr. in November, 1825. He was at that time in the employ of a set of men who were called money diggers; and his occupation was that of seeing, or pretending to see by what means of a stone placed in his hat, and his hat closed over his face. In this way he pretended to discover minerals and hidden treasure. One of many sources, search for them all.
You are likely aware that the LDS Church denied for years that Joseph Smith had been a money digger. Representatives said this would be devastating to the church. When evidence appeared, there were attempts to explain it away. But more evidence surfaced.
Martin may not be creditable, but Joseph Smith, Jr. was actually convicted of swindling people by claiming to use seer stones to find buried treasure. He later started a religion by . . . claiming to use seer stones to find buried golden plates. Coincidence?
I'd be hesitant to believe someone whose lawsuit is thrown out. Would you be hesitant to believe someone whose religion is based on the whole thing he was criminally convicted of conning someone about just four years earlier?
Do not interupt my spirit as I speak !
Do not interupt my spirit as I speak says The Lord for would you rush to judge me as others ?! Then be patient , wait upon me as I speak and learn to discern my voice not only my ways for my ways are gracious and loving for those “In” my will yet if you rush out of my court how will you know the error of your ways ( psalm 26:2-8 ) and the truth to be told ?!
For it is as you wait upon me in true humbleness and supplication that I reveal the “ NOW “ to you ~ my “current” word ~ for I AM moving ! and this is not a thing of the past (Isaiah 48:5-22) for as my word “ behold “ I do a new thing and I reveal yeah show as an active vision the reality of who I truly am and what my will is for you my body and bride .
So wait upon me in patient abide as one for truly it is in this unity of assemblance that I shall reveal my hand at work and where I am resting my eyes ( Zechariah 3:9 ) , for I am a God of revelation knowledge but first you must come to know me “truly” know me that I may mend the error of your ways for my ways are just and my messengers are sent in love to release understanding for those that receive my beloved vessels I call my own and as you reveal your true humbleness of heart and not a counterfeit then and only then shall I reveal my all to you .
So do not interupt my voice however I choose to speak or speak through for I AM God and there is no other yet my Prophets and Apostles carry my words .
Do not rebuke what you know is mine for my vineyard is forever and I shall prune all that deny those that come in my name .
My words are true and shall come to pass for I watch over my word that none should fall .
Nice.
Well done. VERY well done.
Martin knew his stuff. The so called ‘lies’ aren’t really lies. His doctorate was from an unaccredited seminary but not a diploma mill (many seminaries are not accredited by WASC).
I knew Walter Martin only in passing through a mutual friend (a college professor), and for all of his faults and there were some, he knew his stuff and he knew his cults, he was top notch at debate. Don’t be quite so quick to dismiss him based upon the exaggerations and lies of the Browns.
Regarding Smith, you are dead on.
It is priceless, look at what God has done through our meager efforts. Not just those who have left Mormonism, but those never Mo’s whose eyes have been opened to the teachings of Mormonism as well.
LOL
Ping to post 406
Then Martin is creditable ?

Actually, yes. If you want to debate rather than just post links, I will be happy to oblige you.
I love Resty and she tries more than most LDS on here, but I have never seen her apologize. She needs our prayers.
Merry Christmas, reaganaut.
Who is disgruntled? I’m happy to be out of Mormonism!
"We may talk of men being redeemed by the efficacy of his [Christ's] blood; but the truth is that that blood has no efficacy to wash away our sins. That must depend upon our own action." [ LDS Apostle Amasa M. Lyman, Journal of Discourses, Vol. 7, p. 299, 1859]
Given this mormonic teaching that is the very essence of Antichrist, it is still amazing how much LDS inc apologists want folks to believe LDS inc is Christianity restored! MormonISM is the very essence of slick anti-Christ inveigling, and the promoters of this anti-Christian religion will continue to be exposed and opposed so long as Christians are not squelched by the political correctness approach inherent in the lie that exposing mormonISM is hate or hatred of the people trapped in this demonic cult.
excellent post
Not one I chose either, it chose me. :)
Yep, once they are honest, they leave.
LOL love the graphic
Snarkiness will get you nowhere. But considering your *cough* theology, I’m not surprised you have no knowledge of Christianity either.
Didn’t expect anything less.
I have all the knowledge of Christianity I need.
Something you truly lack.
Maybe you should learn a little it.
Especially today.
