The South is largely being colonized by Catholics from Mexico.
It wasn’t the USN people; it was the locals.
My tone is a direct result of your doctrinaire rhetorical posture and pronouncements.
If you don’t like it, don’t treat Catholic political duplicity as a fait accompli. We have been cleaning our house quite vigourously for several years now in case you haven’t been paying attention.
As for “convenient” ... how you so airely disavow the voting habits of Black Protestants from “real” Protestants!
I didn’t separate the black Protestant vote from the Protestant vote, so I don’t know what your issue is.
Only someone very ignorant would not be puzzled by, and recognize that blacks, religion, and voting, are all unique with them, and mystifying, unless of course, you want to explain it. Can you?
Are they? You seemed to dusmiss them easy enough.
Further, if the South is trending right, and Catholics are trending South, how do you conclude Catholics are reliable liberals?
I didn’t understand you post very well, but people, and Mexicans, go where the work is.
Oh.
Florida is only 40% Protestant and Catholics are over represented there, so I don’t know what you ran into, I never saw any of that when I lived there, you should have sued the company if that happened.
Your 47 office people and all your neighbors in the Apartment complex must have all been deeply religious people that all belonged to some weird religion, seems a strange coincidence.
Sure, I can explain it.
Black Protestants are adherents to YOPIOS the same as any other Protestants. It’s what happens when Christians play pick your own authority, then act like it’s Moses coming down from the mountain.
And my issue is your doctrinaire (the South is being colonized by Mexicans) pontification. Didn’t I make that clear?
What is YOPIOS?
“How is it self-evident aside from a chauvanistic assumption Protestants dont become Catholics, or Catholics dont get converts?”
I am amazed that you think you can mind read. I have to tell you, you are overrating your super-powers.
If Catholicism is growing in the South because of conversions, just show me. I will accept any evidence that indicates it is so. The article does not mention that.
Until then, I just don’t have a reason to think it is more than lateral shifting. If that is true, I’m not sure this amounts to much of a story, unless the goal of Catholicism is to be evenly dispersed throughout the USA. If so, then I guess this is significant.

You use an abbreviation of some sort and then won’t tell me what it is, why not?
“What is YOPIOS?”
It is a misinterpretation of the passage of scripture that says no prophecy is the result of private opinion, but of inspiration from God... and the misunderstanding of the ministry of the Holy Spirit who guides believers into all truth.
I’ll tell you: YOPIOS = Your Own Personal Interpretation Of Scripture.

yopios = your own personal interpretation of scripture
Thanks.
How does that abbreviation show why the majority of Protestants vote pro-life Republican and the majority of Catholics vote pro-abortion democrat?
And how does it explain that when Catholic Hispanics become Protestants, they start voting as pro-life Republicans?
Don’t most church members agree with their church’s interpretation of scripture?
