I would like to add to your statement. The lds partnered with muslims to send aid to Haiti, which arrived after Christian groups had been on the ground for weeks and are still there. And yes the lds concern first was were the buildings damaged, then they worried about their members.

Since you will show up soon with your pre-written saved pages, please add my name to SPAM and FRAM.
I was sad to see my name was not there.
Just to make it clear. I do not hate Mormons, I loath MormonISM.

Good questions. I think the lds hooked up with muslims in Haiti.
lds sure spends a lot of energy courting muslims.

***Japan Quake Fulfills Mormon Prophecy***
That is like THE AMAZING CRISWELL’s first prediction which came true!
As a child he looked out the window and saw it raining. He predicted.....”THE RAIN WILL STOP”. A little later it did.
Build on a fault line and you will eventually have an earthquake. No prediction necessary.

NOTE: This is the VALUE of aid given NOT necessarily the actual dollar amount. LDS members individually donate above tithing to a humanitarian account and hygiene kits sent to disaster sites are generally assembled by wards from material donations by members and then sent to SLC for distribution.
From the "Humanitarian Services" website, HERE
"Current NeedsAs the Church responds to humanitarian needs worldwide, the need for specific types of donations varies.
Currently, the items listed below would be most beneficial:
Updated: January 2011
- Full and Twin Quilts - PRIORITY (current inventory insufficient to meet requests for shipments)
- Wood Toy Blocks (No larger than 4 in length. Wood must be finished or painted and sealed)
- File Folder Games
- Puppets
- Quiet Books"
"Unique in its support structure, Latter-day Saint Charities has access to the resources of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which include food production and processing, grain storage, vocational rehabilitation, donated used clothing, and employment and social services. Largely run with volunteer labor, Latter-day Saint Charities operates both independently and in cooperation with other charitable organizations and governments. Last year, over one million mandays of labor were contributed by volunteers in support of welfare initiatives."
I applaud LDS MEMBERS for their humanitarian contributions...one has to wonder, though, how much more per capita could be donated if church revenue from its many for-profit enterprises were tapped as well.

This is great aid, good.
I am surprised by the small amount versus a net worth of billions.
Something is better than nothing.

Japan Quake Fulfills Mormon ProphecyFrom your link: "By this, I don't mean in any way that the people in Japan are wicked or were deserving of the destruction that has occurred."
The Millennium
Because of the destruction of the wicked at the Saviors Second Coming, only righteous people will live on the earth at the beginning of the Millennium. They will be those who have lived virtuous and honest lives. These people will inherit either the terrestrial or celestial kingdom.

My you are a nasty little man aren’t you.
Show me because you made the charge were I ever said God hates mormons, or that I said I hate mormons.
Show me where I said that mormons should not participate in the clean up.
Prove it.
Fred Phelps and his ilk are demons.
I have been in many earth quakes big ones little ones, it is the nature of California.
However, you still refuse to address the questions I asked in post #7, and now I am beginning to wonder why?

I admit that I have not lived through any earthquakes in Japan, so I am probably extremely ignorant on the subject.
But my thinking is the first thing you would do would be to help the people with human needs. Locate survivors, get food, blankets, water, medical care, access to hygiene items, access to communications to the people.
Do you know if any of the LDS buildings in Japan are being used for shelters as of yet? How do they handle it that non-believers and less-than-perfect LDS are not even allowed in the temples? Do they just ignore that rule in times of crisis?

I see that a lot of very tiny people are providing their aid to the Japanese people by belittling the efforts of others, and doing it from the safety and comfort of their computer chairs. Bitterness is so unbecoming, especially when it's poorly wrapped in the pretended concern for others' souls.

The original post is about lds and their assessing what help to give, while Christians have been on the ground for days.
The original post is about lds inspecting their buildings.
It is an lds article.

I don’t know the status of the Mormons’ efforts in Japan, but the following update was given 1 month after the Haiti quake:
“Latter-day Saint Charities has been providing relief to those who have been displaced, injured, or otherwise suffering from the effects of the January 12, 2010, earthquake in Haiti.
The organization has already provided over one million pounds (25 semitrucks) of food, hygiene kits, water filtration bottles, water systems, and medical supplies such as medicine and wheelchairs. Two thousand seven hundred tents have been distributed to families forced to leave their homes. Supplies are being shipped by air from the U.S. and by truck from the Dominican Republic.
Nine LDS chapels located in and around Port-au-Prince have been opened as shelters to support local communities. Food and other relief supplies brought into Haiti are being used at these shelters to assist with basic needs. Approximately half of the people being helped at or in Church facilities are members of other faiths.
Latter-day Saint Charities has had medical teams on the ground since January 16. The physicians are tending to the wounded by performing surgeries, setting broken bones, and providing other medical attention as needed. Physician teams continue to treat children and families in clinics established at these nine facilities. Mental health professionals were sent to address pressing mental health issues resulting from the disaster.
Local members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints continue to load and unload supply trucks. They are delivering foodstuffs and other medical supplies to those in need.
Latter-day Saint Charities, in order to provide relief assistance, has partnered with the following NGOs: CARE, Food for the Poor, International Relief and Development, American Red Cross, Islamic Relief, Helping Hands for Haiti, and the United Nations.”

Besides working with my group's team on a third 48 foot trailer of food and medical supplies and personally financing 4 college kid's trips to go over and help and join several already in country we know that are already distributing, not a bloody thing.
You?

Are these non damaged buildings being opened for the homeless? Are the kitchens in these building fixing food for the hungry? Are the storage rooms being opened to distribute clothing to the freezing? Well, at least the buildings are safe.
I don't know the current status of the Mormons' efforts in Japan, but the following update was given 1 month after the Haiti quake. A similar response took place after Hurricane Katrina and other hurricanes which hit the Gulf Coast in recent years, as well as the 2004 Indonesian Tsunami and the 2006 earthquake. Based on their previous actions, it seems likely that the same kind of response to the Japan earthquake is taking place now.

You have no idea what the LDS church is doing, other than what was mentioned in the article. I know you want to believe that they have done nothing other than what was mentioned, but your assumption is incorrect. If you are willing to use Google, in the coming days you will find that the Mormons have been doing a lot more since Friday than what you can see in a press release.

"Good. Except for this: Islamic Relief"
Does a starving child know the difference between a bottle of water given by a Christian and one given by a Muslim?
And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.
But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,
And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the ahost, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.
Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?
And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.
