It is deliberate, although many of them don't realize it.
Brights. Lucifer. Both refer to light.
Atheism often sounds like an organization trying to sell masturbation as an alternative to sex, because they feel oppressed by sex.
He was kicked out of a local atheist group for actually defending religion.
As an atheist in NYC, I happily give a hard time to those so-called 'new atheists' who denigrate religion. Most in the community don't have any problem with religion, but there are definitely some outspoken idiots out there.
And I've run across some of those so-called 'brights' - it's always fun to point out that their name makes them sound like know-it-alls (as others have rightfully posted here).
Of course, they *really* hate my Palin t-shirts, which makes me wear the shirts even more :-)
Who gets to decide? You make your values up as you go along as it serves you/god. This is how you arrive at death care where we have a baloon of elderly people in the Boomer generation who are going to cause a temporary problem for our central controllers and you/god decide it is best to kill them off for the sake of material gain. Materialism replaces God’s grace and love for the atheist.
***Every generation going back to the start of the 17th century has had its Brights who believed that they alone understood reality,****
As it was pointed out almost one hundred and eighty years ago...
“Pertness and ignorance may ask a question in three lines, which it will cost learning and ingenuity thirty pages to answer, and when this is done, the same question shall be triumphantly asked again next year, as if nothing had ever been written on the subject.”
-—Bishop Horne 1831
Or the old saying:
“One fool can ask more questions than ten wise men can answer.”
