Did he tell you he didn’t know that Scripture existed?

If not, you are reading his mind.

Also, there are differences in interpretations of Scripture, as everyone on this forum has known for eons now.

I'm confused. Are you saying you agree with Roamer_1 that the Lord's Day on Sunday is a violation of God's commandments?

I'm sorry I wasn't clearer.

I don't believe it is because during the Apostolic Era and immediately following Christians worshiped on both Saturday and Sunday. I was injecting into the discussion that the controversy probably really got started because a pagan emperor set a day of worship for Christians.

God does not judge by external appearances

Do you not bathe and wear your good clothes to Church? Why?

It is always a good thing to take scripture within it's context....that was surely done with the scripture reference. Including reading the prior chapter and following...

Scripture is of no private interpretation therefore three things come to mind...One, someone is wrong,... Two, how it is applied....Three, pulling out of context.

With this Chapter and verses it has a crescendo affect.

It’s All Saints’ Church in Wittenberg, Germany. It has been extensively renovated over the centuries to give it a decidedly Protestant “flavor” (much of the renovation was actually necessitated by extensive damage, including a fire, during the Seven Years War).

Should the place of worship where Jesus is present be kept un-beautiful?

Jesus is with me 24/7 and I'm not a really good looking guy. I worship Him all day long.

I think there is a human desire to build large beautiful churches not so much to honor Jesus Christ, but to project status and authority.

In fact Christ Himself was, per the bible, not much to look at

Where does it say that?

While you’re at it, RM,

How about considering this sort of post . . . a frequent type by this poster . . .

essentially judging some Proddy’s Salvation as being nonexistent etc. etc. etc.

Seems like an exceedingly outrageous sort of making it personal = to saying the Proddy is going to hell unless the Proddy complies with the RC poster’s sentiments and instructions.

The place should be kept neat, clean, and in good repair. Beauty is secondary. It's just outward appearances.

I think you're right. It's the heart that matters.

For me, Christ’s comment that the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath

settles it.

the emphasis was on WORSHIPPING GOD AND PUTTING THE MONEY INTO HELPING THE POOR AND INTO MISSIONARY WORK.

Aimee McPherson's Foursquare Angelus Temple in LA was more about fame and Hollywood. Both before and after she was "kidnapped."

Thank you for the link of which I will study later Old Reggie.....but I am interested in the degree of international influence the Roman Catholic Church does have...we know it has tentacles... but to where and what end they have determined I am interested in...though much has been behind the scenes, with computers etc. it has become far more difficult for these things to remain in seclusion.

I'm not certain my link will be of much help to you. Suffice to say no Pope has ever renounced the "world power" goals of the RCC. The "tiny" Vatican is tiny only because the Vatican Armies lost the wars.

It’s pretty ironic considering the howling that occurs when a proddy makes some comment about some Catholic’s eternal destiny.

Like Mother Teresa.....

It's been said numerous times over the years, but I'll say it again. The unity among Evangelicals is our belief in The Gospel.

Odd how I use the term Protestant and you switch to Evangelical. I would have to say that the vast majority of Protestants would not call themselves and could not be described as Evangelicals in the American sense.

As far as your belief in the Gospel, if you get far beyond the Apostles Creed or Nicene Creed (both of which Catholics and Orthodox also believe), you will find a great deal of disagreement.

After that we may have a lot of different opinions, but we stand united in our belief in The Gospel and because of it we are the Body of Christ.

The beliefs are often quite conflicting and anything but unified. Would you care to explain how High Church Anglicans and Southern Baptists have "unified" beliefs about the Eucharist or Baptism?

"When this "Church" disbands it's Diplomatic Corp and it's "observer" seat in the United Nations."

You apparently missed WWII. It was in all of the papers.

Here's the title:

And it carries the official sanctions of:

ni•hil ob•stat
n.
1. Roman Catholic Church An attestation by a church censor that a book contains nothing damaging to faith or morals.
2. Official approval, especially of an artistic work.

WITH RICHARD CARDINAL CUSHING’S IMPRIMATUR

Let me track down the brief portion of quotes upthread . . .

Here they are:

However, as we've seen through a variety of sources--a pile of them in Ferraro's manual about the Rosary--the Roman Catholic et al/Vatican Edifice disagrees with a lot of the claims of RC's hereon to the contrary.

p.32
.
[Quixicated emphases below]
Mary is crowned Queen of heaven and earth, dispenser of all graces . . .

p32
4 - She became Queen of Purgatory, where she exercises her power as mediatrix in behalf of these suffering souls.

5 - She became Queen of us sinners, to assist us through the dangers of this life and to help us in difficulties.

6 - She became the ruler of hell, that trembles at her slightest gaze and is defeated by her power.

"Just as a rock extracted from earth will precipitate into the abyss, so will man, left without Mary's help, quickly slide toward hell." --Richard of St Victor

p37
Sacred Heart of Jesus, Thy kingdom come; Thy kingdom come through Mary! --Partial Indulgence

p41
"Mary is the tree of life to those who grasp her, and he is happy who hold her fast." --Prov. 3:18

p43
1 - "Hail Mary, beloved daughter of the Father, Mother of the Divine Son, Spouse of the Holy Spirit, complement of the most august Trinity!"

p45
6 - To her was granted grace greater than that conferred upon all others, 'that she might vanquish sin in every respect.'
.
[Qx: I guess Christ's vanquishing sin was unnecessary--or ineffectual without Mary's assistance?]

p46
7 - "Mary is the dawn of God because, just as the dawn marks the end of darkness and the beginning of day, so Mary indicates the end of vices and the beginning of virtue."
.
[Qx: I guess Christ's conquering on The Cross and HIS conquering trip to hell were unncessary?]

9 - God loved Mary so much that He gave her the keys to His heart. 'No one can go to God without Mary drawing him.'
.
[Qx: I guess Holy Spirit has been relegated to a 'Walter Mitty' role as spouse of Mary? That's SOME POWER to cancel & take over HOLY SPIRIT'S role to draw men to God!]

p47
4 - "Mary, trusting in the word of the angel, destroyed the sin Eve committed by trusting in the serpent.'
.
[Qx: Evidently, she beat Christ to the job of vanquishing sin!]

5 - "She desired the safety of everyone, went in search of it, and obtained it; it was also through her that this salvation was wrought."
.
[QX: What an unnecessary waste of precious Blood and suffering on THE CROSS!!!/sar]

p47
10 - "As Noah's Ark saved all the animals that entered it, so Mary saves all the souls that entrust themselves to her care."

p50
8 - "If she were not so holy as she is, how could God appoint her to be the ladder of Paradise, the advocate of the world, meatrix between HIm and us?"

p50
4 - "By becoming Mother of God, Mary belongs to the order of hypostatic union; hence she participates IN the infinite sanctity of God."
