NONSENSE.

Did Mother Theresa write those startling things, or not?

WITH RICHARD CARDINAL CUSHING’S IMPRIMATUR

Let me track down the brief portion of quotes upthread . . .

Here they are:

However, as we've seen through a variety of sources--a pile of them in Ferraro's manual about the Rosary--the Roman Catholic et al/Vatican Edifice disagrees with a lot of the claims of RC's hereon to the contrary.

p.32
.
[Quixicated emphases below]
Mary is crowned Queen of heaven and earth, dispenser of all graces . . .

p32
4 - She became Queen of Purgatory, where she exercises her power as mediatrix in behalf of these suffering souls.

5 - She became Queen of us sinners, to assist us through the dangers of this life and to help us in difficulties.

6 - She became the ruler of hell, that trembles at her slightest gaze and is defeated by her power.

"Just as a rock extracted from earth will precipitate into the abyss, so will man, left without Mary's help, quickly slide toward hell." --Richard of St Victor

p37
Sacred Heart of Jesus, Thy kingdom come; Thy kingdom come through Mary! --Partial Indulgence

p41
"Mary is the tree of life to those who grasp her, and he is happy who hold her fast." --Prov. 3:18

p43
1 - "Hail Mary, beloved daughter of the Father, Mother of the Divine Son, Spouse of the Holy Spirit, complement of the most august Trinity!"

p45
6 - To her was granted grace greater than that conferred upon all others, 'that she might vanquish sin in every respect.'
.
[Qx: I guess Christ's vanquishing sin was unnecessary--or ineffectual without Mary's assistance?]

p46
7 - "Mary is the dawn of God because, just as the dawn marks the end of darkness and the beginning of day, so Mary indicates the end of vices and the beginning of virtue."
.
[Qx: I guess Christ's conquering on The Cross and HIS conquering trip to hell were unncessary?]

9 - God loved Mary so much that He gave her the keys to His heart. 'No one can go to God without Mary drawing him.'
.
[Qx: I guess Holy Spirit has been relegated to a 'Walter Mitty' role as spouse of Mary? That's SOME POWER to cancel & take over HOLY SPIRIT'S role to draw men to God!]

p47
4 - "Mary, trusting in the word of the angel, destroyed the sin Eve committed by trusting in the serpent.'
.
[Qx: Evidently, she beat Christ to the job of vanquishing sin!]

5 - "She desired the safety of everyone, went in search of it, and obtained it; it was also through her that this salvation was wrought."
.
[QX: What an unnecessary waste of precious Blood and suffering on THE CROSS!!!/sar]

p47
10 - "As Noah's Ark saved all the animals that entered it, so Mary saves all the souls that entrust themselves to her care."

p50
8 - "If she were not so holy as she is, how could God appoint her to be the ladder of Paradise, the advocate of the world, meatrix between HIm and us?"

p50
4 - "By becoming Mother of God, Mary belongs to the order of hypostatic union; hence she participates IN the infinite sanctity of God."

IT IS *NOT* A FRUIT OF HOLY SPIRIT TO BEAR FALSE WITNESS.

For a millisecond, let’s put down our disputes and magnify the Lord.

May we be so scattered in our conceits that we become lowly. And when we are lowly, let us rejoice that He lifts us up.

Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised. There is no end to His greatness!

And, Lord, if we may dare to contradict the words of the Psalmist, prosper not our handiwork, but yours in us, who without you are nothing but in you may one day see the joy and peace and end of every longing heart.

You may have noted I took no part in castigating M Theresa in such harsh ways.

I’ve long been impressed by her servanthood and humility as well as her pluck and candor.

However, I find her struggles with doubts about God’s existence, Heaven’s existence to be startling and disturbing. And extremely sad.

And it seems to me, that somehow, THE INSTITUTION failed her miserably in perhaps a list of ways.

I understand your perspective.

And while I’d change many things about the “dialogue” if I could, I think it is as good as possible given all the givens.

Changing such would mean heavy handedness beyond reason and beyond what’s fitting.

If folks are too thin-skinned to handle such well and redemptively, they should avoid such threads altogether.

No, the institution succeeded gloriously! She entered into the suffering of our Lord. When I am well and rested, I long also to contend with the enemy as Jesus did, to be permitted for a moment or a decade to share with Him in His glorious battle.

The Institution did well. It kept out of God's way.

No one will remember the words we spoke, the arguments we wrote in our petty and mendacious disputes.

To the contrary:

But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. – Matt 12:36

No doubt Mother Teresa has suffered cruel mocking, but so did Christ.

Likewise also the chief priests mocking [him], with the scribes and elders, said, He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him. He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God. - Matthew 27:41-43

If she could speak to you right now, I believe she would tell you to count it all joy.

Blessed are ye, when [men] shall revile you, and persecute [you], and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great [is] your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.- Matthew 5:11-12

And again,

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with [him], that we may be also glorified together. – Romans 8:15-17

I doubt very many modern day Christians would have survived the circumstances of the early church. Modern Christians complain like it is the end of the world when they get their feelings hurt because someone disapproves of them, inconveniences them or makes fun of them or what they hold sacred.

The early Christians didn't have all the Scriptures, couldn't assemble openly, weren't respected, faced angry mobs or death by stoning or being fed to lions or losing everything. They were hated by their governments and hunted. But they knew they had everything they would ever need in Christ Jesus The Lord.

But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.

Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, And cast [him] out of the city, and stoned [him]: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul.

And they stoned Stephen, calling upon [God], and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep. - Acts 7:55-60

God’s Name is I AM.

Zzzzz

The Psalmist says, He gives to His beloved sleep.

Lord, whether I watch or sleep may I rest in your love, the love which promises that you will fight for me and I have only to keep still.

Lord, I am afflicted and so sinful that even keeping still is beyond me. Do you be still while I toss and turn, and let your stillness and my unease redound to my salvation and that of all whom You love,
You who live and reign at the still and resting point of all that is good, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, in glory everlasting.

I understand.

However, I am not ashamed to defend my saintly sister in Christ, Mother Teresa of Calcutta.

Nor am I ashamed to say that I deplore her words, her writings and her “dark night” being twisted out of context and emptied of truth.

She took up her Cross and followed Him, the Cross designed for her by Him, the Cross of sharing His cry—which He gave for all who know the darkness of living without Him—”My God, my God, why have you abandoned me”. That cry, that “darkness of soul”, He brought to redemption on the Cross.
She learned from the Master to share that part of the Cross with Him. It was in this that she was able to “do all things in Him who strengthened her”.

In this life we can never fully plumb the depths of the mysteries of the Cross and of the Sacred Scriptures. We see only darkly through a mirror now, but the glory that awaits us will reveal all that is hidden, and we will walk out of darkness into his own marvelous light.

Yes, we can fall at times and become like that which we dislike. Nevertheless, we are called to defend what we know to be goodness, truth and beauty—however awkwardly we may do it.

THE DAUGHTERS OF ST PAUL PRESS

or via Amazon.

Perhaps I can scan some pages and the title etc. pages in and host them on a site that allows hotlinking.

It would be interesting to see y’all eat such words.

YET AGAIN.

What a piece of work.
