Betty, I certainly do not intend tyo denigrate the extraordinary efforts of many here. The scholarly erudition has been nothing short of amazing.
I have been trying to find the original posting done by wagabee in 2006 with no luck.
The comment you quoted is by me. I did not give proper credit when copied to my home page. Situation corrected. It was a reply to a particular challenge much like those that you have encountered here.
Maranatha, Jesus!!!
bump for later reading.
Please see my previous post regarding the article posted at my home page. I seem to be having the very deuce of a time getting proper credit for my writing. LOL Certainly no one’s fault but my own.
Blessings
Then let's give the proper credit to where it's due! Thank you dear Amos, brother in Christ!
If you find wagglebee's original 2006 post, I'd love to see it [or maybe waglebee knows where it is???] for it certainly inspired a brilliant response!
I so agree with Amos' statement, above.
Maranatha, Jesus!!!
I have been trying to find the original post to no avail
The Free Republic credits are:

Perhaps someone with better skills than mine can find the original post.
That is “wagglebee”. My apologies.
And the article at the top "Globe and Mail Op Ed Propaganda for Renewal of Eugenics" is just as chilling today as I'm sure it was when originally published.
It seems so appropriate to cite/reprise it here, on the present thread.
Thank you ever so much, dear wagglebee, for tracking this down for us!
Perhaps the most debilitating attitude expressed by conservatives is reasonableness. It manifests itself as a willingness to compromise. When confronted by leftist fanatics a conservative will typically buckle rather than face a blizzard of accusation.
An undying commitment to reasonbleness means being able to see both (or all) sides of an argument. The result of all this gentlemanly conduct usually results in surrendering some small ground in order to maintain good fellowship. Where, precisely, does this get us? From the perspective of our adversary it simply means that we can be bullied into surrender, or, at least, hushed up.
What happens when the spirit of the French Revolution meets the Spirit of the American Revolution on the battlefield. We shall see, for, this is truly the business we are about.
Thank you for sharing your insights, dear Amos!
The awakening of the RINO faction is not yet. They still believe they can quiet Tea Party Reps and Senators when they arrive in Jan. That will be the time for true revolution.
Every effort will be made to bring our firebrands into the fold of the ruling class. It will take men and women of raw courage to fight the impulse to join the most exclusive club in the world. We have not seen this war before in our history.
You have made for us a vital distinction between the French and the Colonial revolutions. French revolution descended into a Ruling Class who shamed the character of the king they deposed. So too, our Revolution has been corrupted by the same spawn of the guillotine who oppose in every detail the cause for which our Founders fought.
We must return to that battlefield and end the tyranny of the Godless and immoral tyrants who foul the heart of our tradition.
We will prevail if we sustain the same spirit that guided George Washington, the progenitor of our freedom.
Please excuse me, dear Amos, my brother in Christ, but it seems to me we're not talking about the "reason" of certain "conservatives" here. We're talking in much more general terms, about the spinelessness of people who choose not to live in, nor carry on, the tradition in which they were raised. As if it had no value, or relevance to the personal/social conditions of our age....
But what good is a "conservative" who will not "conserve?" That he's "forgotten" [or didn't even bother to learn in the first place] whatever it was he was supposed to "conserve" is no excuse.
Instead, he should remember....
There's nothing "reasonable" about being "unreasonable"....
Oh, it's late, probably well past my bedtime!
So I'll just say good-night, and God bless, to any person reading these lines.
May God's' blessings be upon you!
And on you, dear Amos! Good night! Sleep tight!

Spirited: In extension of betty’s astute observations I add that spinelessness is the consequence of three interlocking spiritual conditions:
1. Moral relativism, or lack of discernment between right and wrong
2. An overiding desire to be liked, popular, fashionable, etc-—at all costs
3. Willful ignorance (ie., distaste for immutable truths and moral absolutes)
I am not sure where you are finding disagreement vis a vis talking about the “reason” (reasonableness?) of certain conservatives. I certainly agree with you about the spinelessness of much of our party’s leadership. Do you believe they are justifying their spinelessness by claiming to be reasonable? Perhaps you could clarify your distinction. I do not want to miss a cogent concern.
Look like I got messages mixed up. My comment in the previous post should have been directed at BB. Sorry Irish. I think reasonableness as I discussed it and spinelessness are virtually interchangeable.
