That is certainly the truth.
And it was necessary for God to increase in wisdom and.....?
Certainly stature. Babies are such little people; Jesus is depicted as at least average height, if not a little more. And does even God know how to deal with a Jewish mother?
Yup. It means you never have to say your sorry.
The second, the belief that there was more that was delivered to Moses than what he actually wrote down.
This they called the “Oral Law,” passed “mouth to ear,” according to authority... and it is the very foundation of the Pharisaical tradition. Upon this foundation, the “wisdom” of famed Rabbis were laid, according to the majority opinion among the authorized, and within a few hundred years, a religious system was built which was so burdensome and against salvation, that the Christ called it a “pit of vipers.”
I would submit that it is in this light that one must apply the words:
Hear and Obey - Trust in the LORD with all your heart and LEAN NOT on your OWN UNDERSTANDING;
What God intended in that case (the Old Covenant), He most certainly committed to the pen of His agent, that His words would be clearly preserved. God does not change. Why would He treat the New Covenant any differently?

INDEED! WELL PUT.
THX.
There you go, using logic and reasoning and Scripture.
Don’t you know that that’s not allowed?
It all depends on *TRADITION!* (cue in Fiddler on the Roof music)
I am in 100% agreement with you on this. I have a suspicion that the main reason some are unable or unwilling to consider that the name "Mother of God" for Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Word, was an unfortunate decision to come down dogmatically on is because, to do so, is to acknowledge that their magesterium may have been wrong or mistaken.
Being conditioned from almost birth that The Church is infallible in all doctrines of faith and morals, is a difficult thing to doubt. All other dogmas could then also be suspect. So much balances on this holding, that to allow in even a shadow of a doubt is to be opened up to the question of "What else did they make a mistake about?". I fully understand the fierce defense and the almost hair-trigger response and objection to any disagreement.
I feel sometimes like the people are expected to defend any and everything their Church states and that they are really expected to, as a matter of status of membership. I puts some in awkward positions and may explain why many are reluctant to even discuss their faith with others.
Very good. But to be discredited by Jesus is quite another thing. But the children of the Reformation must be well used to that by now, so much so that their repudiation of Christ has been predicted by Christ;
Matthew 7: 15 9 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but underneath are ravenous wolves. 16 By their fruits you will know them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Just so, every good tree bears good fruit, and a rotten tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a rotten tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 So by their fruits you will know them. 21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, 10 but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? Did we not drive out demons in your name? Did we not do mighty deeds in your name?' 23 Then I will declare to them solemnly, 'I never knew you. 11 Depart from me, you evildoers.' 24 12 "Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. 25 The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock. 26 And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand. 27 The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined."
The house of Calvin is collapsing in front of us. The ruination of the Reformation is coming to completion. The Christians among them are returning the Church and the heretics and apostate among them are creating even more novel theologies of men. All the numbers (except for the even more heathen Pew Institute) bear this out.
2 Peter 2: 1 1 There were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will introduce destructive heresies and even deny the Master who ransomed them, bringing swift destruction on themselves. 2 Many will follow their licentious ways, and because of them the way of truth will be reviled. 3 In their greed they will exploit you with fabrications, but from of old their condemnation has not been idle and their destruction does not sleep. 4 2 3 For if God did not spare the angels when they sinned, but condemned them to the chains of Tartarus and handed them over to be kept for judgment; 5 4 and if he did not spare the ancient world, even though he preserved Noah, a herald of righteousness, together with seven others, when he brought a flood upon the godless world; 6 and if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah (to destruction), reducing them to ashes, making them an example for the godless (people) of what is coming; 7 and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man oppressed by the licentious conduct of unprincipled people 8 (for day after day that righteous man living among them was tormented in his righteous soul at the lawless deeds that he saw and heard), 9 then the Lord knows how to rescue the devout from trial and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment, 10 5 and especially those who follow the flesh with its depraved desire and show contempt for lordship. 6 Bold and arrogant, they are not afraid to revile glorious beings, 11 7 whereas angels, despite their superior strength and power, do not bring a reviling judgment against them from the Lord.
12 But these people, like irrational animals born by nature for capture and destruction, revile things that they do not understand, and in their destruction they will also be destroyed, 13 suffering wrong 8 as payment for wrongdoing. Thinking daytime revelry a delight, they are stains and defilements as they revel in their deceits while carousing with you. 14 Their eyes are full of adultery and insatiable for sin. They seduce unstable people, and their hearts are trained in greed. Accursed children! 15 Abandoning the straight road, they have gone astray, following the road of Balaam, the son of Bosor, 9 who loved payment for wrongdoing, 16 but he received a rebuke for his own crime: a mute beast spoke with a human voice and restrained the prophet's madness. 17 These people are waterless springs and mists driven by a gale; for them the gloom of darkness has been reserved.
18 For, talking empty bombast, they seduce with licentious desires of the flesh those who have barely escaped 10 from people who live in error. 19 They promise them freedom, though they themselves are slaves of corruption, for a person is a slave of whatever overcomes him. 20 For if they, having escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of (our) Lord and savior Jesus Christ, again become entangled and overcome by them, their last condition is worse than their first. 21 For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from the holy commandment handed down 11 to them. 22 12 What is expressed in the true proverb has happened to them, "The dog returns to its own vomit," and "A bathed sow returns to wallowing in the mire."
And as we know, in example after example, the Reformation opened the door to ever more licentious beliefs and strange novelties of men. When a Reformed religion did not work, did the men return to the Church? No. They formed even more strange beliefs. And when they didn't work? Did they return? More and even more strange things and beliefs are constantly being formed.
Discredit? I think that the example is clear.
BTW, my ‘argument that made sense’ was God’s Word not mine. What Truth could I possibly know without HIS Word? none.
Along with ‘test everything’ with HIS Word - we are to renew our mind - that’s taking what God says in HIS WORD and replacing all our sacred cows we held onto dearly over the years with it. Then we are “on our way” to having the mind of Christ - the way HE wants us to see HIM/HIS WAYS, etc. That’s HEARING His Word and OBEYING it. On our way but we will never finish until heaven when ALL knowledge will be known.
If we don’t know HIS WORD we don’t know HIM. Scripture isn’t knowing HIM - satan knows scripture - but a fellowship and getting to know HIM as He speaks through His Word. Our fellowship with God is #1 with HIM. That’s the reason for Jesus’ Resurrection - with our sin nature we were separated from The Father. Now that we are washed clean by the blood of the spotless Lamb and Jesus rent the veil - we can go boldly to Our Father. That’s why HE sent Jesus - because HE so loved us - He wanted to have fellowship with us. Imagine that! ;) Like He walked with Adam/Eve. When someone is ALL love they want love, also.
God is not up in heaven with His arms crossed waiting for us to mess up - our messing up is a given - but HIS arms are outstretched towards us. Much like any father who so loves...but HIS love is perfect.
AMEN!
TRUE INDEED.
THX FOR YOUR KIND WORDS.
BLESSED BE THE LORD.
PRAISE HIS NAME
PRAISE THE AUTHORITY OF HIS WORD.
A surprising number of folks are saying such things.
God have mercy.
ping to END TIMES LIST LEVEL 3
Facing death? What Inquisitional Tribunal did he face? What death did he face? Answer: none. He lived his life in wealth and privilege and died a natural death, untried and unmolested by the Church. The only death he faced was his natural one. Not affected by the Church whatsoever.
He turned out to be a pawn in the game of international politics, but a well paid one. Conservative? More like a man whose enterprise was bought out by bigger forces because they could use him and his enterprise to their better use.
To: killermosquito INDEED. This one wont work out so well either. Yet Scripture indicates theyll be in power . . . some regions tenuously . . . for 3.5-7 years or so.

Again I say so? What power do they have over you that you don't give them?
You might wish to acquire a sharper knife.
So? Nobody said that it would be easy. These folks here have a lot invested in their own particular belief system.
"Sure, just come to Rome Brother Martin, we can work this out." Please.
Some Christians swallowed easily enough
the notion that Mary had no other children
and
that she ascended bodily into Heaven already.
and
that the ET critter playing the role at Fatima was Mary.
and
umpteen% of RC’s voted for OThuga as President.
What was that you were saying about Christians being immune to delusions?
“”To say this is to totally ignore Gods covenant with Israel.””
That’s not true and salvation would limited to Jews only if we lived under the OT covenant, dear friend.
The OT is revealed in the NT through Christ bringing about a New covenant that’s not just for Jews. The Church is the new Israel. the new people of God- meaning “universal salvation” for gentiles as well.
NOSTRA AETATE from the 2nd Vatican Council explains this well.

The Church keeps ever in mind the words of the Apostle about his kinsmen: “theirs is the sonship and the glory and the covenants and the law and the worship and the promises; theirs are the fathers and from them is the Christ according to the flesh” (Rom. 9:4-5), the Son of the Virgin Mary. She also recalls that the Apostles, the Church’s main-stay and pillars, as well as most of the early disciples who proclaimed Christ’s Gospel to the world, sprang from the Jewish people.
As Holy Scripture testifies, Jerusalem did not recognize the time of her visitation,(9) nor did the Jews in large number, accept the Gospel; indeed not a few opposed its spreading.(10) Nevertheless, God holds the Jews most dear for the sake of their Fathers; He does not repent of the gifts He makes or of the calls He issues-such is the witness of the Apostle.(11) In company with the Prophets and the same Apostle, the Church awaits that day, known to God alone, on which all peoples will address the Lord in a single voice and “serve him shoulder to shoulder” (Soph. 3:9).(12)
Since the spiritual patrimony common to Christians and Jews is thus so great, this sacred synod wants to foster and recommend that mutual understanding and respect which is the fruit, above all, of biblical and theological studies as well as of fraternal dialogues.
True, the Jewish authorities and those who followed their lead pressed for the death of Christ;(13) still, what happened in His passion cannot be charged against all the Jews, without distinction, then alive, nor against the Jews of today. Although the Church is the new people of God, the Jews should not be presented as rejected or accursed by God, as if this followed from the Holy Scriptures. All should see to it, then, that in catechetical work or in the preaching of the word of God they do not teach anything that does not conform to the truth of the Gospel and the spirit of Christ.
Furthermore, in her rejection of every persecution against any man, the Church, mindful of the patrimony she shares with the Jews and moved not by political reasons but by the Gospel’s spiritual love, decries hatred, persecutions, displays of anti-Semitism, directed against Jews at any time and by anyone.
Besides, as the Church has always held and holds now, Christ underwent His passion and death freely, because of the sins of men and out of infinite love, in order that all may reach salvation. It is, therefore, the burden of the Church’s preaching to proclaim the cross of Christ as the sign of God’s all-embracing love and as the fountain from which every grace flows.
Your moronic postings will have to go unchecked for awhile. I’m studying for my fantasy football draft.
BTW, I didn’t say that the
GREAT DECEPTION WOULD BE SO GREAT AND SLICK THAT
WERE IT POSSIBLE
THE VERY ELECT OF GOD WOULD BE DECEIVED.
JESUS SAID IT.
Tough. That is Christianity. Love it or leave it. It is not about to change to accommodate mixed up pseudoChristians who really have no more concept of God than what they see in the mirror.
