>>Do Christian evangelists use this affinity for Mary at all in trying to talk to Muslims about Christ? If they like Mary, maybe they would like to know what she says about her Son.<<
I’m not sure.
But I can tell you this, in my area of MI, we have tons of Chaldean Catholics. Hardcore Muslims hate them, but less...um....fanatic Muslim are very open to speaking about Jesus. They consider Him a prophet.
I was in my parish one day and a lady was standing by a statue of St. Therese. She stopped me and asked who this was and I told her. She said that she came to her in a dream and told her to light a candle at her statue. She sheepishly told me that she was Muslim.
I told her she was welcome anytime and to feel free to pray for a while.
I’ve seen her more than once since then. So who knows?
Yep. That’s about it.
OK fine ... go back to sleep.
How lovely!
JPII commissioned a moslem artist to do a rosary casket, it was issued in a limited edition, and I was given one.
It was too ornate for me, though, so I donated it to a fundraiser for a local person injured in a fire. Hope they got some money for it! :-D
....Plus I HOPE, end the flame wars.:)=^..^=
You are wonderful!

“The bigot’s thread will get somewhere around 1000 posts and will be full of cartoons of laughing dogs, A LOT of funny fonts with blue and red lettering, quotes from nonexistent websites and a lot of bigots patting each other on the back for making sure Catholics understand just how much they hate the Mother of God.”
My, my that is sure to make the “bigots” more open to the views of the catholics.
If they were open-minded about Catholicism they wouldn't be bigots.

What the “bigots” don’t understand and what drives them batty is that we really don’t care what they think of Catholics.
Especially where there are so many non-Catholics who DO consider us, “Brothers and Sisters in Christ”. I married one.
So whether or not they are ‘open to the views of Catholics’ doesn’t really matter much. Those filled with “The Love of Christ” share His Good News without Slash-and-burn evangelism.
“If they were open-minded about Catholicism they wouldn’t be bigots.”
But if they are open minded about Catholicism, yet still don’t accept it, that makes them “bigots”?

Not at all.
Absolutely not.
The proportion of anti-Catholic bigots among non-Catholics is vanishingly small.
