As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication. (Acts 21:25)

pathetic...this is up there with claiming your goldfish as a dependent.

All the Vatican has is a Greek text from the late Second Century, and the Latin from the Fifth Century. And from that... they claim to own truth. They are out-dated by about a thousand years...

A second-century Greek text of the New Testament is out-dated by about a thousand years?

I was speaking of the TaNaKh (Torah, Prophets, Writings) - Which was formally enumerated in about 400 BCE.

But certainly, the Aramaic Peshitta outdates the Vatican texts by nearly a 100 years. Look it up. The earliest manuscript of the New Testament is not the Greek text from the Vatican, but the Aramaic (Syriac). Held and used by a group declared as heretic by the Roman church...

Truth is timeless, but powerful and political factions deem what is truth.

I respect that your particular flavor of religion claims to have the monopoly on truth, but others who disagree do as well.

So what is truth?

With religious matters it’s hard to tell. These things are not largely subject to scientific scrutiny. You know it’s “true” because you believe it. And your church supports your belief.

Other denominations or religions view your beliefs as heresy.

Those beliefs are not able to be proven or disproven. They all come from a belief from what is not seen. Truth in religious matters may be timeless, but they’re also unprovable, which makes the charge of heresy somewhat arrogant.

Try to appear like they know some Scripture I suppose.

So what is truth?

Very interesting that you (I assume) inadvertently quote Pontius Pilate, and just as inadvertently point out exactly why the protestant heresies are poison.

This fact alone does not win the claim of aramaic primacy. This fact alone only wins the claim of earliest specimen of text now on hand.

Still doesn't get to a thousand years.

No more odd than insisting we worship on the day named for worship of the pagan god Saturn.

Ah, but we don't. We keep the Sabbath, or Shabbat in Hebrew. We call it the "Seventh day" [yom ha-sh'vi'i] or "Shabbat" - we would never correlate it to the name of a pagan deity. I always wondered if this was in the Vulgate, or in the New Jerusalem Bible:

And in all that I have said to you, be circumspect and make no mention of the name of other gods, nor let it be heard from your mouth. Exodus 23:13

When the Church founded by Christ says it's heresy, uh, well, then it's heresy.

Ooooo. So, want to argue it is really 800 years? We still out date ya bub < grin >. And yes, the "New Tesament" is ours too. Written by Jews. Preserved by Jews. Thoroughly Jewish.

Ah, but we don't.

Ah, but you do. The day is called Saturday in English and that is when you insist we all worship. I didn't say you use the word "Saturday," I said you insist we worship on that date.

And in all that I have said to you, be circumspect and make no mention of the name of other gods, nor let it be heard from your mouth. Exodus 23:13

So, you NEVER use the English words for the days of the week? Not even when you're scheduling a dentist appointment or a flight?

You won’t be satisfied until this website is 100% catholic conservative, which it might well become. Run the heretics off, dammit.

And what do you have for a claim other than some references that post-date the Peshitta by 200 years? Do you know that Eusebius (c. 300 CE) quotes Papias (c. 100 CE) that the text of Matthew was in Hebrew? So, where in the Vatican is that text? The Vatican shunned the Peshitta text - and sought to destroy all copies. Ooops.

Sorry, the truth that Rome tried so hard to suppress (that Rome was not the rightful apostolic heir) got out. Eusebius unwittingly admits it. Heggesipus (c. 160 CE) says it. It is even recorded in the Talmud.

Of course not. I'm pointing out it was not a 1000 (or even 800, for that matter).

Written by Jews. Preserved by Jews. Thoroughly Jewish.

Written by Catholics who were formally Jews. Preserved by Catholics who were formally Jews. Thoroughly Catholic.

From the Notre Dame nonsense, methinks this is an oxymoron.

Yeah, sure. Argue with Paul:

I say then, has G-d cast away His people? Certainly not! For I also am [present tense] an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. Romans 11:1
