I wouldn’t know about that, Petronski, since I avoid those threads like a plague ... because that’s what division among those in Christ is, a plague. I do however debate the Mormons because I do not view mormonism as a Christian doctrine.

I agree. The choice is reaffirmed in the sacrament of Confirmation when you are old enough to make a reasoned choice and you decide you want Him to come into your life in an adult way.

Jesus celebrated all the Jewish rites. Apparently He thought they were of value. He changed them and made them into something new. For His entire life He followed the Jewish rites and festivals. I’d say He was validating the importance of “rites” in human’s spiritual lives.

What does the bolded Scripture mean to you? I read that it clearly says water baptism saves.

In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water, and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at God's right hand—with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him. 1 Peter 3:18-22
