She also stated that a woman was aged 43 and graduated high school in 1976. That would mean she graduated when she was ten. Something wrong in dat dere arcticle.

Lord, I just saw a Bishop Sheen show about just this very thing. He was talking about masks, and how the boy would talk like that to the girl on the way to the place where he would seduce her, and then on the way back he would talk about not telling anyone, what to do if she got VD, or G-d forbid, preggers, etc.

If we had states rights again

You just gave the reason why the federal government will never relax its grip on the states, unless a crisis forces it to do so.

Should extramarital sex be illegal?

In some secular societies it is but it always has been with the ultimate Judge.

At least there won't be baby killing then.

Just soul killing.

“They are just beginning to see the link between the pill and breast cancer.”

Actually, that’s NO LONGER true. At least, not nearly as much as when they 1st came out. They’re more refined now, so there is less problem with the cancer than before.

However, I think it may be wreaking other havoc. I myself suspect - but only precariously, because many things are contradicting it - that the hormonal stuff may cause my digestive problems. I only had BC a year before suddenly I had major reflux problems, and within another year apparent colitis. It is a daily downer for me - they’re not “cancer!!” but they can LEAD to it (the worst kinds - esophageal and colon) AND it is totally destroying my psyche and makes me miserable daily. I’m not much fun any more. BC probably contributes, but I’ve wondered if it caused it in the 1st place.

Must read this later tonight. Sex divorced from faithful potentially procreative monogamous marriage leads to all the sexual aberrations we see around us. Despite all weak arguments to the contrary.

>>>Our world will never go back.<<<

We cannot see the future. What we call “Modern civilization” will one day have passed into oblivion, just as all other civilizations have done. Eternal truth doesn’t change, though.

The bottom of the article states it’s being reprinted from March ‘01.

So that America can be awash in unwanted babies?

I don't think that would happen. People would just be more careful about sex. Plus, the birthrate rising to replacement levels is not necessarily a bad thing.

When abortion is made illegal, we need to make artificial means of birth control illegal too.

Well, there can be health scares about long term effects about hormone-based birth control (FDA territory?), as well as environmental effects of the hormone getting into the water supply (can the Catholic church lobby the EPA to enacting insane regulations on this issue?). Condoms are another problem though, but I think if birth control was limited to non-chemical methods, we would be in much better shape to turning society away from having a casual attitude about sex.

“Some things are evil and deserve to be banned. Contraception is among them.”

That might be the silliest thing I ever read on the internet. Today.

If we had states rights again, where some states were for the conservatives, and some states were for the liberals, instead of this homogenized mayonnaise that we have now, then we would still have busibodies on both sides attempting to force others to live how they want them to.

“I don’t think that would happen. People would just be more careful about sex.”

Yes, because people are well known for thinking and living responsibly right?

So that America can be awash in unwanted babies?

Before abortion got the federal stamp of approval, before contraception became widely available, the country wasn't awash with unwanted babies. It was awash with women who kept their knees together, because they were afraid of the very real consequences of sex. The country was awash with men who knew "baby" means "18 years of responsibility," if nothing else. The numbers back me up. The staggering number of children who are in some form of foster care, the holocastal number of babies slaughtered in the womb--compare the numbers of today with those of yesteryear, before birth control was easily accessible.

Maybe "awash" doesn't mean what you think it means.

The problem is that birth control makes it easy to be promiscuous. And birth control is wrong in and of itself.

I agree with your point that the Constitution doesn’t give the federal government the power to ban contraceptives. However, the states do have the power to do so. Of course, at this point in our history, birth control has become completely acceptable and respectable so there is little chance that any state would ever ban contraceptives any time soon.

However, the use of contraception is evil in and of itself and, as this article points out, it also has had some very bad consequences. Birth control has ushered in an age of recreational sex or, as it was called back in the 1960s and 1970s, “free love.” But love isn’t free and even recreational sex has its price.

“It was awash with women who kept their knees together, because they were afraid of the very real consequences of sex.”

And knowing what you know of young American women today, what in Gods’ name makes you think that they will A) give up the freedoms that they have secured since the 1960’s and B) Would choose to kepp their knees together? Frankly you ought ot live in the here, the now and the real.
