fornication should be illegal. It wasn’t too many years ago that it was illegal in most places in America.

Actually it was legal under British Common Law which we inherited. And of the few laws that were passed...most were either quickly repealed, not enforced or were struck down by state courts as being odious to their respective Constitutions.

That sex is a primal urge no one denies. However, civilized people control their urges. Learn continence, or find a wife.

“The Scripture — the source of authority usually claimed — also came from the Church”

Odd. I thought it came from God. But I do now understand that you were not deliberately trying to sound like an intolerant jerk, I mistook you and I profoundly apologize.

Well, I meant to be provocative. I am sorry too.

The scripture is from God, but the human authors of the New Testament are Catholics as well as Orthodox, and it is the Chruch that explained the Old Testament.

God works through the men He chooses.

We just brought our new baby girl home today!

One of the odd things was everyone kept saying “Put Mom on the pill NOW!” After all the trouble we had, I doubt that is the problem.

You are wrong.

the use of birth control causes people to disassociate procreation from the physical act. every time a man and woman come together and use contraception, if a child is conceived the pregnancy is seen as an aberration of something normal. i.e. sex is for pleasure, not procreation. This is the height of abandonment of personal responsibility.

Contraception is changing the culture, so much that many people (particularly young people) consider conception is what is not normal. This leads to more abortions.

Contraception is the progenitor of the Wests demise!

Tough sell. Used to be All who professed the Christian Faith believed birth control to be wrong. Very few denominations/Christians still recognize the immorality of birth control. Too bad.

according to your own profile page, how can you believe life begins at conception then say it is moral to kill it by abortion? If you believe in Christ then why not read Genesis 38? - this describes a contraceptive act for which the man is punished.

No - banning contraception will not create lots of 'unwated babies', it will make people consider the consequences of their actions beforehand.

Ah...nothing like a thread on sexual behavior to bring the prudes out of the woodwork proclaiming that any sexual activity other than the missionary position within the confines of marriage is immoral.

Nothing like a faith-based thread to out the so-called conservatives who are proud of acting like rutting pigs. I guess we can thank you for the America of unwed motherhood, fatherless homes, gay pride parades, internet pornography and abortion on demand. Viva la revolucion.

You might ‘go find you a female’ but I doubt a real woman would spend twenty minutes with you, dweeb. Real women prefer men, sonny.

“how can you believe life begins at conception then say it is moral to kill it by abortion?”

Please post the link where I said anything close to abortion being moral. I demand that you either back up your assertion, or retract it.

There are conservatives that are not social conservatives. There are people that are socons, that call themselves “conservatives” but are only conservative on social issues, believing in things like social justice (financial communism) and weakness abroad in diplomatic dealings. I believe that it has been said that there are three legs of the conservative stool. IMO, if one does not hold to AT LEAST two of them, that person is no conservative.

I based my comment on what you say on your profile page:
A woman should have the right to choose abortion in the event of rape. - Agree A woman should have the right to choose abortion in the event of incest. - Agree

is this sufficient?

I see. You would punish the rape victim by forcing her to carry to term the result of her rape.

Would you also stone the rape victim to death for the sin of having been raped?

The difference between us apparantly is that I do not see rape as an act of love.

“Contraception is the progenitor of the Wests demise!”

That is a very good summary of what the West faces. Demise is in the air. The vacuum created by Contraception/Abortion has us waist deep in illiterate hordes from other cultures. CA cannot recover(tax their way out) from this and other states are in a similar boat.

I’ve never heard of a social conservative subscribing to “social Justice”. That’s just another facet of Liberation Theology, a.k.a. Marx wearing a Jesus mask. What are the three legs of the conservative stool?

“I’ve never heard of a social conservative subscribing to “social Justice”.”

There are some that believe that they are conservative socially yet they want the government to play Robin Hood with other peoples’ money.

“What are the three legs of the conservative stool?”

Social, Fiscal and Defense. I say that we need a candidate in 2012 that nails all three.
