It is somewhat subjective, I agree. Catholics consult their priest. Others should probably convert to Catholicism and then consult their priest.

“That is essentially what I’m getting at—change the way of thinking in adolescents and teenagers and you end up with more responsible adults.”

Well I would suggest that you would have to also educate on the dangers of oral and anal sex. Handjobs....no one wants thumb herpes. Kids will do what they can unless there is a wholesale change in how society views sexual relations. If that is a goal of anyones’ I wish them the best of luck because in principle, I completely agree. It’s the means and the methods that worry me.

“Catholics consult their priest. Others should probably convert to Catholicism and then consult their priest.”

I think I understand now. Only Catholics have morals and they only understand what they are after some guy dressed in black tells them what they are. Boy it must suck to be non-Catholic, all that having to think for yourself.

There is one moralty, not 2 and not 22,000, so it is best to get it from the source as God established it.

“so it is best to get it from the source as God established it.”

So is the source Christ (through prayer) or some guy in a black suit?

No. They will not will not be dragged backward (as you say) or forward (as I say) toward home and family. They(the feminists and the dupes of their philosophy) have formed in the liberal belly of the beast the perfect weapons against Western civilization. They only need to stand back in awe as the culture murders itself, one prevented baby or one abortion at a time. I expect that they will continue to rush headlong into the nursing home circuit devoid of offspring to visit or protect them from the hell that lies in wait.

“A guy in a black suit”, if he wears it well, is grounded with “Christ through prayer”. Furthermore, if he wears it well, he is a visible witness and testimony to a life directed and fortified with the value of faith and morals.

Do you believe as annalex appears to that only Catholics have morals and only understand them after the Priest tells them what they are?

The source is Christ. The priest is one sent by Him.

Annalex does not believe that, and I don’t think my posts even appear to say so.

There is one single moral law for all, whose source is God. Very many people have a good idea what the moral law is, and they follow it. Many non-Chrisitans have better morals than Christians, and many non-Catholics have better morals than Catholics. That is because moral law is natural law, it is, as St. Paul said, written in the hearts of all men (Rm 2:15).

You asked how one is sure in applying the law to oneself, and I answered that the best way is to ask the Church that Christ sent down with that very purpose in mind (Mt. 18:15-18).

So?

Go ye into the whole world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall be condemned. (Mk 16:15f)
Christ did not establish 2 churches or 22,000 churches. He established One Holy Catohlic and Apostolic Church for the salvation of men.

Do you agree with the following statement? I have taken it to mean that if you are not Catholic then you canot have morals nor know what morals are until a Priest explains them to you.

“Catholics consult their priest. Others should probably convert to Catholicism and then consult their priest.”

“So?”

So? So you believe that no one but Catholics can possibly have morals and that Catholics ONLY understand their morals once a Priest explains what they are.

Oh I read fine. I have read and re-read your post so many times, hoping that I misunderstood you. Unless you were attempting humor, I understood you just fine.

Ah...nothing like a thread on sexual behavior to bring the prudes out of the woodwork proclaiming that any sexual activity other than the missionary position within the confines of marriage is immoral. No wonder everyone thinks all Republicans are Puritans.

Sex is our most primal urge, and it is an itch that healthy people will scratch. There is nothing wrong with consensual sexual behavior among adults. I’m glad the pill was around when I was in college. It made getting a roll in the hay much easier. There is nothing quite so boring as a bunch of nosy, self-righteous busybodies getting their grannie panties in a bunch trying to regulate the behavior of others.

You know, I think I’ll toss a couple of condoms in the glove box and go find me a woman tonight. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

The humor was only to the extent that I know you are not going to run to the nearest priest, even though you and everyone should.

There is one moral law, that men know intuitively and imperfectly, and the Church — the Catholic Church — knows in full. So the priest is the best one to ask, but of course the Church does not make a secret of the moral law, so many non-Catholic moral authorities also exist and are credible. Whether they acknowledge that or not, they have their knowledge from the Church. (The Scripture — the source of authority usually claimed — also came from the Church).

As to the morals of individuals, it is usually not the matter of knowledge but the matter of obedience. There are immoral Catholics and moral non-Catholics.

Does it explain things better?
