Or even that Jesus is a historical figure, not "in the flesh"?

Uh, no. I don't even think Obama is Christian- but that one particular statement he made was not out-of-line with the Catholic faith.

I like Alan Keyes' blog about him being a bad tree- even if he has fruit that appears good from time to time, he produces bad fruit=bad tree.

I wonder if what a man has in his heart, as demonstrated by his actions, is more telling than the trinkets that may be found in his his pocket.

I think there are a few intriguing reasons for him carrying the Mary medals.

One, I remember that Lincoln carried Confederate money and even had a CSA note in his pocket the night he was shot. So maybe it’s a keeping a talisman of your enemies type of thing.

Two, I believe that he went to Catholic school for awhile and he feels comforted by Mary (even maybe as surrogate for his real mother). If this is the case, I pray that Our Lady opens his eyes.

Finally, maybe he is aware that JPII credited Mary for saving his life from the assassin’s bullet, and it’s simply a good luck charm.

I see a funny-looking guy wearing glasses in the center of it.

I think I see a subway token and a key chain from “South of the Border”

I knew he did not care about the soldier. Sgt. Jopek’s memory was as valuable to him as a monkey trinket.

Instead of showing that he values things that are important to people, it shows he does not value anything.

Moral equivalency taken to a new level.

I call BS. We sure are learning alot of anecdotes about Obama, of late.

How come we didn't get treated to the wonders of this chump before?

BTW, since we do not know when he became a US Citizen or if he is a US Citizen.

I have some Questions:
When did you become aware of Jesus Christ?
What was the message that drew you to him?
Who led you to the Lord?
What Church did they belong to?
When did you first start attending a Christian Church?
What was the name of that church?
What was the name of the Pastor of that Church?
What struck you most about the Pastor of that Church?
Do you still speak with that Pastor?

When did you accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior?
When where you baptized?
Who performed your baptism?
Where was your baptism performed?

Why are carrying symbols from other religions in your pocket?
Thou Shall have no other gods before me ring a bell?

I could go on

These things are nothing to him, but superstitious talismans.

There's a whole lot besides a Miraculous Medal in that collection of trinkets.

I think we're getting insight into the buckshot-approach nature of this creature. Clearly not a man of finely defined convictions -- but of rather strong but undefined ones. That is, based upon this meager evidence alone.

It could also be that he's pure con and everything he does is for effect, in which case his convictions are both clear and perfectly defined.

this is not far off from the current Catholic belief, as I understand it.

If so, your understanding is incorrect.

The Church and her sacraments are the ordinary means of salvation. All men are called to her, and she is required to teach all nations. No one who rejects what he knows to be the true faith will be saved. But God is not bound by what he has revealed. Although his hope of salvation is gravely imperiled, it is not impossible for an untaught pagan, preserving his heart in purity and seeking the truth in all things, to be saved. That is an authoritative and long-standing teaching of the Church.

In the debate Obama should have said: “Hey McCain - I wear a good luck trinket too!”

I think I've seen all I need to see to conclude as follows: Remember the "private" prayer at the Wailing Wall that was leaked verbatim to the press?

Did George W Bush ever disclose to the media what he carried in his pocket on any given day?

This is a set up -- Obama is a human Mickey Mouse -- an image, a figurehead, a mascot -- in a great fantasy land.

"I try to select a number on any given day," Obama said.

His notions of faith are sentimental and childish -- unexamined, self-regarding, and deeply incoherent. This may help explain why his moral sense is so deformed. I think he's a weak man and expect this to become obvious quite soon.

I should add that none of this differentiates him from millions of his countrymen of every political category.

The birthright of every American is to be imbued with definitive authority when it comes to religion or politics...
