This was certainly the buzz last night at my AU Parish. There was empathy for what those in the CoE are experiencing, yet there was much anticipation, and hope that they would come home to Rome.
Strange as this might sound, I think that by-and-large, we don't know how.
Sure, there are groups like Catholics United for the Faith and figures such as Mother Angelica and others at EWTN who try to stand up to the bishops. However, the tendency thus far (at least in the US) seems to be that they are either with little effect or, as with the incident between Mother Angelica and Cardinal Mahoney, the bishops band together and oppose the layperson.
I suspect it would not happen as badly if we didn't have bishops' conferences. Is there anything like a bishops' conference in Orthodoxy? (Please pardon my ignorance in the matter.) If there is, do the conferences try to rule over the bishops individually?
There sure are a lot of "older brothers" here, though.
haha. Our church now is quite orthodox, too, and I love it. This other one, I tried to speak a few (of many I wanted to) words of Truth, spared them some, ran screaming shortly after we joined. ah well ... I imagine they don’t miss me. hahah.
