This is an Ecumenic thread, in order to focus more clearly on the specific doctrines of the LDS Church regarding the mission of our Lord and Savior.

The different thread types on the Religion Forum are explained below:

Prayer threads are closed to debate of any kind.

Devotional threads are closed to debate of any kind.

Caucus threads are closed to any poster who is not a member of the caucus.

If it says “Catholic Caucus” and you are not Catholic, do not post to the thread. However, if the poster of the caucus invites you, I will not boot you from the thread. The “caucus” article and posts must not compare beliefs or speak in behalf of a belief outside the caucus.

Ecumenic threads are closed to all “anti” arguments.

The article of an "ecumenic" thread can discuss more than one belief - but it must not be a direct attack on other beliefs.

Posters may express the beliefs they are “for” but not those they are “against.” They may also ask questions. Posters who try to tear down other’s beliefs – or use subterfuge to accomplish the same goal – are the disrupters on ecumenic threads and will be booted from the thread and/or suspended.

Do not “pick at scabs” by mentioning prior “open” threads. If you need to make a point previously made on an “open” thread, summarize it anew.

Open threads are a town square – posters may argue for or against beliefs of any kind.

They may tear down other's beliefs. They may ridicule, similar to the Smoky Backroom with the exception that a poster must never “make it personal.” Reading minds and attributing motives are forms of “making it personal.” Thin-skinned posters will be booted from “open” threads because in the town square, they are the disrupters.

There really should be a way to filter selected fourms from the current article view. This flood of LDS propaganda is just offensive.

We hope to have a software change very soon that will remove the Religion Forum from all the default searches. Be patient.

If you don’t know why there has been a flood of LDS articles as of late, here’s the reason in a nutshell. The last few months has seen a flood of anti Mormon posts, what with Romney running and the FLDS fiasco. The intent of the increase of LDS posts is to take back what is ours, and define our own faith, and not let others, who hate what we believe, do that so overwhelming for us.

My suggestion would be to pass over the clearly labeled LDS posts, to those you are interesting in. There are plenty of anti LDS posts available if that’s what you would prefer to read.

Cheers.

In my opinion that is an abuse of this forum.

The intent of the increase of LDS posts is to take back what is ours, and define our own faith,

That is what I asked the moderator for and he said it's coming.

My suggestion would be to pass over the clearly labeled LDS posts,

If you think it’s an abuse to post our actual beliefs instead of only playing defense all the time, then hit the abuse button. The RM has done a suburb job in trying to keep decorum in all the bashing threads. The RF is far outnumbered in catholic threads, so I’m not sure if you are equally claiming abuse when it comes to their faith as well.

Your rights are not infringed. Neither are mine. If that is abuse, then you and I have much different ideas about what constitutes religious freedom, and what this site, FREE Republic, is all about.

Cheers.

The most common complaint these days is the intermingling of Religion Forum threads with News/Activism.

And for several months now the largest volume (in words) of daytime Religion Forum posts have been LDS related.

It is true, as you say, that the Catholics post much, much more in the Religion Forum whether by word count or number of articles. But their large posts (Caucus, Daily Readings and Prayers) are usually made very late at night.

I'm not suggesting the LDS posts be made late at night to accommodate the complainants. A software change is needed. Posters should not have to watch a clock.

If an “Ecumenic Tree” falls in the FReeper Forest,
and no one hears it, did it really make a noise?

In other words, do you really think anyone reads
these?

All the best,

I said “In My Opinion”. That means it is my opinion and not necessarily the opinion of the RM. No one has a right not to be offended. I offered the RM a suggestion about improving the Free Republic Experience, vis. to be able to filter out offensive propaganda such as what you are flooding the forum with.

RIght, I see that complaint a lot on my posts. It seems like a distinct separation between news and religion is in order. And something that is permanent that doesn’t change when someone logs out.

Thanks for what you are doing!

Your suggestions have been noted. But this is an ecumenic thread and posters are not to argue “against” any other beliefs on ecumenic threads. It’s time now for you to leave this thread.

According to page views, an average of close to a hundred per post.

For those who care to know the actual beliefs of the LDS regarding our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, it is here for all to see, one of the master works of LDS thought on His life and mission.

For those who care to believe otherwise, there are more titillating threads.

The choice is clearly there.

Your opinion is duly noted. It’s also my right to counter what I deem as offensive propaganda against my faith.

Have a great day.

There are 46 on our FIP ping list. Many, if not most of those views of these threads are “anti’s.”

There are hundreds of active FR posters who are appalled by all things Mormon, they too read these threads. I’m surprised sevenbak hasn’t taken that into account.
